WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she wouldn't hesitate to run for the presidency in four years if it's God's will, even though she never thought Campaign 2008 would be "as brutal a ride as it turned out to be."

In a series of interviews in the wake of last Tuesday's elections, Palin said she had no problem with Republican presidential nominee John McCain, but that she resents rumors she said were spread about her and her family by the Arizona Republican's aides. She emphatically denied that she was a drag on the GOP ticket.

"I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign's collapse than me personally," the governor said in an interview broadcast Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

Palin also said "There were a lot of times I wanted to shout out, 'Hey, wait a minute, it's not true.' It's pretty brutal."

Nevertheless, the relatively obscure governor of Alaska, whose selection for the ticket by McCain last August brought excitement _ and controversy _ to the 2008 campaign, said she would be eager to do it all again under the right circumstances.

"I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door," Palin said in an interview with Fox News on Monday. "And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door."

In the wide-ranging interview, Palin said she neither wanted nor asked for the $150,000-plus wardrobe the Republican Party bankrolled, and thought the issue was an odd one at the end of the campaign, considering "what is going on in the world today."

"I did not order the clothes. Did not ask for the clothes," Palin said. "I would have been happy to have worn my own clothes from Day One. But that is kind of an odd issue, an odd campaign issue as things were wrapping up there as to who ordered what and who demanded what."

"It's amazing that we did as well as we did," the governor said of the election in a separate interview with the Anchorage Daily News.

"I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing," Palin said in a story published Sunday.

Palin has scheduled a series of national interviews this week with Fox, NBC's "Today" show and CNN. She also plans to attend the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida this week.

Palin has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. She also could seek re-election in 2010 or challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Still uncertain is the fate of Sen. Ted Stevens, who is leading in his bid for another term but could be ousted by the Senate for his conviction on seven felony counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in gifts, mostly renovations on his home. If Stevens loses his seat, Palin could run for it in a special election.

Palin and McCain's campaign faced a storm of criticism over the tens of thousands of dollars spent at such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to dress the nominee. Republican National Committee lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was bought for Palin, what was returned and what has become of the rest.

It would be nice if Sarah palin would focus on her career as governor and take care of her family. President-elect Obama can run our government for the next eight years.

I say Uncle even.... Make her go away!
Sadly, methinks she is going to do everything she can to stay in the media spotlight for as long as she can. She knows the benefit of this and will work every angle and then some. I am wincing already.

She was completely managed by the McCain campaign. They wanted to make her over and give her a new persona befitting the McCain image. It is terribly sad to see how many want to vilify her and disgustingly put her down. I am amazed by her courage to face everyone in their time of defeat in the election. I certainly haven't seen McCain stand up for Palin as these lies are slung at her and anonymously propagated in the MSM. It is outrageously pathetic for many to suggest that she is this monster, when in fact she was very popular in Alaska prior to the McCain campaign naming her VP candidate. I am pretty sure Gov. Palin will be around for some time whether in Politics or Media in general. At least she understands that there are two sides to politics and people who are involve with it: the worse and the worst.

She incited fear and hate in my country. Game over for her. The known threats to baracks life doubled as soon as she started her c r a p. How dare she try to continue to divide the country that I love. She loves Alaska, not America. If you truely love america, you wouldn't do that.

She brought all this on herself. First mistake, not saying no to RNC when asked to be VP - for not knowing she wasn't qualified. She incited near-riots which are not over yet probably. She paraded her family in front of us and used them as bait for pity. She denies everything - never have heard her say she was to blame for anything in the campaign. I can't feel sorry for her because the truth comes out and it makes her look very bad. It seems like her ugly memory is fading already - has to be for anyone to say they feel sorry for her.

Perhaps Mrs. Palin should consider taking the road travelled by former VP Dan Quail - keep quiet and continue living.

"Palin said she neither wanted nor asked for the $150,000-plus wardrobe the Republican Party bankrolled, and thought the issue was an odd one..."

Not "wanting" to spend huge sums of money on clothing does not negate the reality that she spent it. She unashamedly spent $150,0000 of a republican donor's money and abused low level campaign aids by charging + $ 20,000 on clothes for her family. These figures are not in dispute. She's made up so many different stories about the circumstances that nothing she says is credible.

Don't forget she left Wasilla in deep debt and she spent $50,000 to redecorate the mayor's office. She lied on her travel reimbursements as governor by receiving travel expense money for her children to attend conferences. She indicated they were with her for official duties but the conference organizers claimed the children were not invited. She took travel per diem payments when she worked at home, not in the governor's office.

She demonstrates a pattern of mendacious, entitled, ignorant, and self-serving behaviors and I am sorry for Alaska. Thankfully, she's not the VP.

Here's my idea... a reality show called "Pallin' Around with the Palins." She'd make a fortune letting us watch her simultaneously parent and grandparent while fishing for salmon, field dressing caribou, and, oh yea, running Alaska. It would sell. What do you think?

Our not so gifted governor has proven to be a gift that keeps on giving to the Democrats. She really should stop pointing fingers and talking about 2012 and get back to governing Alaska. She no longer has the billions tax from oil companies profits generated by $120.00 plus oil to "rebate" socialist style to us Alaskans. Our oh so lovely and long-standing socialist permanent fund also has lost one quarter ( 12 billion) in value due the current economic downturn. I doubt people will be as satisfied with her when they get a tax bill instead of a $4000.00 check from the Alaska treasury. Our budget balances at $75.00 oil and oil has dropped below 60.00 and is still falling. Thanks to her loose lips about not wanting the bridge to nowhere and our re-electing ethically challenged congressman and senator we have blown up the bridge to the federal pork farm and nowhere is where the billions for federal projects will come from.
Perhaps having to deal with those new Alaska realities she will prove herself worthy of national office. So far to this Alaskan her campaign threw our State's interests under the bus and damaged her ability to be an effective Governor.

at first i was thinking if we just ignored Sarah Palin, she might go away. However, only she would start campaigning for 2012 before the new elected president has even been inaugurated. Because there is no way her candidacy will get boring for four years, there is no way people will lose interest after four years. By the way, what was your favorite tv show four years ago? Your favorite song four years ago? What was that menu item you chose from your favorite restaurant four years ago? Go for it Sarah. Here's your new slogan:
Four years to forget

She wonders how the republicans ran up a trillion dollar debt. Why not ask how she ran a up a 22million dollar debt in the little town of Wasilla while she was mayor? Did she really need to hire a city manager? Did she need to redecorate her office for $50,000? Did she need to build a sports complex on land that the city didn't have a clear title to? Did she throw in the cost of building her house along with the sports complex since there are no apparent bills from the contractor for building their personal 3500 sq ft house and the same guy who built the stadium built her house.

Maybe she didn't ask for the clothes, but how about the $40K worth of clothes, including silk boxer shorts for First Dude Todd? All he needed was a suit from J. C. Penneys with maybe an extra jacket.

This is a dishonest, out for all she can get politician who thinks we will believe her lies.

These are all excellent quetions that no one seems to want to answer. So what is the truth Govenor? OR are you and Congressmen Stevens hiding a similar secret?

Did you return his clothing and the Luis Vitton purse for your kid?

All your meaningless rant still dosen't answer your dubious track record pertaining to charges you billed taxpayers to pay for per diem to stay in your own home in Alaska, the travel expenses for your family on state business as a Governor, nor all the clothing expenses you billed the campaign, and who knows what else? Even with a very disorganized campaign, I find it hard to believe that McCain and his staff would have approved of purchasing 40k in clothing for your husband and kids. If all this is irrelevant because it isn't true, then come up with the real facts to back up your claim instead of avoiding the question all together! Her comment that the "economic collapse had a heckuva lot to do with the campaign's collapse then me personally", is true, but that shows just how much lack of confidence voters have in you as someone we can entrust should you need to step in as God forbid, the President.

OMG- that whole thing about her speaking at McCain's concession speech. If it isn't done, it isn't done. Does she expect us to believe that she wouldn't have done that to serve her personal interest? She is keenly aware of how much more popular she was than McCain at the countless rallies. She wanted to speak to hear the adoring applause because that's what a narcissist needs. Why do you think she's granting all these interviews? She craves the attention.

Even if she had spoken to brag up McCain, it would have overshadowed him, just as she did at every rally. The election isn't about the VP, it's about the P. I do not believe that speech writers assisted her with the speech. If one did, it was one who felt she should have been on the top of the ticket.
