Sarah Palin's youngest daughter and campaign sidekick Piper gave her first interview ever on Tuesday's "Today" Show. As the governor made halibut and salmon casserole in the family's Wasilla kitchen, Matt Lauer turned to Piper for her thoughts on the 2008 campaign. The 7-year-old reflected on the hardships of the campaign trail ("All the rallies"), how much school she missed ("A lot") and weighed in on the 2012 question.

**See Piper wear high heels during the interview**

Obama was chided for the one and only interview he did with his family, yet everybody goes gaga when Palin and her herd is plastered all over the media, what hypocrites.

I have, IMHO, as cute a seven-year-old girl as Piper. I agonize when I keep her home for two days in a row because of a cold.

no kidding. if you want a clue about an alaskan education - home schooled or otherwise, go to the AIP website. i'm not sure they are aware of it, but it was written by an ESL individual.

Excuse me? What are you implying by mentioning 'ESL individual'?

Many ESL 'individuals' are just as good as any native English speaker/writer if not better. In case it's not clear, I'm an ESL individual. :/

That child should have been in school...The only time she should have missed school was for the RNC convention. That child should have had a tutor!

Poor kid has to remind her mom that she missed a lot of school and it is hard to catch up.
Her political ambitions seem pretty selfish given that she has all those young kids.

You're right, Sarah should tone down her ambitions and start putting her kids first. I have to wonder how little Piper will be doing in 10 years as compared to the Obama girls whose parents put their educations first. The Palins really need to take a page from the Obama's book. Their parenting skills are like day and night.

Piper is a sweet little girl. Seems like she's really been thru it. That last beat where Sarah tells her to say it was fun reveals so much!

The kids should have had a tutor, even if it was more important to the parents for them to experience the campaign. No focus on education there. Unfortunate. But, my question is: Did Matt Lauer eat the casserole?

I think Palin should concentrate on developing Piper for the presidency. She can start by sending her to school. That child honestly did not have a thought about 2012; she was obviously coached to respond to her mom's question.

I am so tired of seeing this woman on TV. She should take a break and tutor (or hire a tutor for) poor Piper. Despite her mama, I really like Piper. I hope she grows up to be a Democrat.

As governor of Alaska she should be promoting education and endorse programs to stop the high drop out rate in her state. If she goes to Russia and looks into her backyard, she will see that her own family, starting with her children and her future son-in-law Levi, are not being encouraged to attend school and even complete high school. If her children are being forced to travel everywhere with their parents instead of being in school, then she is sending the wrong message about education! I felt so sorry for Piper; she said she had missed a lot of school and it was hard to catch up. Sarah Palin just ignored her daughter's remarks and just told Piper "it was a lot of fun". No, Piper was bored with speeches and wanted to be with her friends at school. Hockey mom and first dude need to really listen to their children and take parenting classes so that they can learn that when you are Pro-Life, you must also live Pro-Life by making children their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY!!!

Exactly. The last thing Piper wants to do is go on another campaign. Unfortunately, her mother won't allow her to say that.

Not me. The first thing I would do if I had a special needs baby and a 17-year old in trouble would be to expose them to the spotlight, constant travel, and grueling hours of a campaign. It was supposed to be sexist to say that during the campaign (well, this year it was supposed to be sexist to say about anything - especially that there were some really vicious women out there) but it is the truth. Please make them go away. And before you attack me - I'm a mother - and a working mother. But I don't know a single mother - feminist, traditional, Republican, Democrat who would have treated Sarah Palin's family the way she did. I don't care what Obama says. If you run on a pro-faamily holier-than-thou ticket - live it.

I am appalled that this woman who espoused to have all the family values as the "other one" James Dobson preaches and teaches about....and yet when the dust settle ...the words do not match the reality. How could this mother keep her children out of school so that she could pursue her VP status? I can not believe that she is not concern with her children education and yet she wants to lead the free world? I feel sorry for her children who she appears to have used for the purpose of political pawns to add to her "hockey mom" image. People wake up...do not be fooled by her. She may talk like a Christian on certain subjects but HEAR her actions. She lied continually on the stump and that is not of God. She had her special need baby out after eleven o'clock and took him on stage....for what purpose? If not to use him for her "hockey mom" image. It is just an image like "joe the plumber." Please look beyond the words of people into their actions and you will see a woman who had no problem wearing short skirts and high heels and promoting her sexual attributes...and yet she claims to be of God. It just that her words does not match her image nor her actions. WAKE UP and do not be deceived by this woman.
