It's not clear what David Plouffe will be doing post-election: Ambassador to France? Senator from Delaware? Consultant-in-demand? Speechmaker? Full-time father? White House something or other? Retiree?

But here's one job he won't be taking: chair of the Democratic National Committee.

He should take a long vacation and get ready for the mid-term election and then for the Obama re-election. He can become an ambassador or whatever he wants after that.

Plouffe seems to display the same temperment as Obama and has generated the same brilliance in running the campaign. I think this guy needs to be goomed for a major political position in order to maybe make his own presidential run in 2016 or continue to maintain an operation to achieve another dem Presidential victory in 2016. As an Obama supporter and volunteer, I would work hard for anyone Obama, Plouffe, Axelrod or Gibbs endorsed or supported in future campaigns.

Plouffe is the best. If he wants to be an ambassador to a lovely country, let him be. I doubt, however, he is not the kind of person to ask for rewards. I honestly admire him and the other David, if it weren't for them, I don't know :)

Awww! That's a bummer! He'd be so brilliant in that position!! The DNC needs his expertise and guidance to handle 2010 and 2012 successfully and graciously.

Everyone keeps talking about how Regan came into power & republicans kept power because of all the various interest group institutions that he created. i believe that President Obama has read & analyze enough about past presidency. I believe that he is going to maneuver in way like Regan. And i believe that the 10+ millions of supporters he has will be use as part of his arsenal.

With the launch of change.gov it believe that David Plouffe will stay on in some capacity to maneuver/engage the supporters on behalf of president Obama.

David needs some position in the Obama-Biden administration. Look at how much hard work he has done. I say, give him the job that he wants to give Solis Dole.

I worked on the Obama campaign as a poll watcher with tens of thousands of other attorneys. We all received messages from various people in the campaign, but the personal style emails from David Plouffe said a lot about the kind of person he is and the standards by which he operates - and they were all good. Whatever job or position he ends up with in the Obama administration, we all will be better for him serving.

I am sure Obama has something good for him while he waits to start his next campaign for 2012. We need the full 8 yrs and he is the man to assure us that. He deserves a few months off first to regroup.

I wish he would become the DNC Chairman. His organizing skills could pay off big for the DNC in 2010 and 2012.

Plouffe loves campaigning....I would guess that he is already mapping out his 2012 strategy.

David Plouffe NEEDS to be in the White House along side Axelrod and Gibbs...........President Obama promised transparent government and Plouffe can impliment all of that.

Obama and his team ran a smooth and steady campaign.......as they will run a smooth and steady White House.

I also look for a ton of law suits filed by Obama against the Bush admin. from Bush hisself to Cheney to Paulson. We the American People expect it, demand it, look forward to it.

just saying....

I would have loved to see him in the position! He ran the Obama campaign like a well oiled machine. i would have loved to see him get the DNC and the Dems reorganized. I certainly hope that he will be somewhere in a high post

I am curious to see what position he does want. There are endless opportunities for him...

Too bad. Plouffe would have been good there.

Maybe Plouffe wants to be available for Obama in his 2012 run.
