Wow, not that I am applying, but the thought of having your future employers read through every comment you've posted on any web site - eek. I suppose, if you want a life in politics or government, you better watch your internet postings. As for the rest though I do I understand they are proactively seeking change and at the same time, trying to innoculate themselves against future scandals that could sink them.

Not only employers, but some colleges and universities are are also checking on-line postings such as facebook as a standard to acceptance.

I'm not quite sure which application the NYT is referring to-there is not one bit of truth to the NYT article I am reading. The link to the application is here http://change.gov/jobs/apply_app/ and if anyone would like to walk through this application, you will not find requests for Facebook profiles, no inquiry about guns, no 'embarrassing emails or blog submission' requests or anything else that the NYT article references. What is also striking about the NYT article-they offer not one piece of evidence to support their claims-just the text that when put into a paper bag and shaken vigorously formed the words and sentences of their article.

I really, really wish other outlets would at least investigate and verify the accuracy of content before publishing, instead of the 'copy and paste' method the media is growing comfortable with today.

Actually, I'm a Socialist who generally votes Democrat (and is a registered Green). It's not that honesty bothers me, but what the hell are we talking about? It's probably not as bad as this article makes it out to be, but lots of us have skeletons in our closet. I certainly do. Regardless, I have been working at one of the most important aerospace companies in this country for the last 21.5 years. If I haven't proven myself by now, I don't know what else I can do. I still did some wild-ass, crazy stuff when I was younger. So . . . am I precluded from being part of this - or any other - administration? They're making it sound like that's the case.

I'm more than happy to 'fess up to my peccadilloes and indiscretions (if that's how they must be characterized), but I'd like to think they don't then preclude those of us who really have been working to make a difference because we "might" be embarrassing. That's all.

Good lord, I just downloaded the questionaire. It scared the bejesus out of me. You've got to be dead set on getting a position in an Obama administration to even get through completing that grueling questionnaire. I really think Obama is going to clean up washington.

After seeing that questionaire, I know there won't be anymore fired Arabian Horse Association Lawyers heading up FEMA.

Obama wants his top brass to have expertise in their field and no skeletons hiding in their closets!

Interesting article. The questions may sound abrasive, but that is what the Repubs and the news media will be looking into once they join his team. Its better to be safe than sorry. He doesn't need to scandals popping up while he is trying to clean up the mess that we are in.
