I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Rahm

Washington Independent:

In the days following his election, it has become clear that President-elect Barack Obama is bringing a little bit of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's City Hall to Washington.

...

Guys like these never seemed happier than when wielding the considerable power they spent their days accumulating. If they have a philosophy, it's a simple one: "Crush your friends -- just for the heck of it."

In the long run, I predict Emanuel will be reviled as much, if not more, by Democrats as Republicans, who won't feel quite as much pressure to obey his commands.

Why will my comment not appear? I have submitted it twice. I was pointing out that the same people who are saying that Obama is a foreign-born Muslim are now saying that he is a pawn of Israel. I was pointing out that this is illogical, and a bit crazy. Why won't you print this?

To the person who said he was appointed by Tel Aviv: Wait! I thought you said Obama was a foreign born Muslim. Now he's a pawn of Israel? Logic isn't a big ticket item at Camp Crazy, I see.

First he was too liberal - now he is too conservative. Hmmm - must be about right.

We all have to come together people. These little "isms" are driving all of us stark raving mad.

Seriously.

That aside, I'm glad Emanuel apologized and I hope this is the end of discussion.

Hear hear. indeed.

Without weapons like Rahm, diplomacy has no gravitas. Love'em or hate'em, change will come, and Obama will lead the way.

Rahm is one among many who will be deeply engaged in the decision -making processes for the Obama administration; we seem to be giving far too much attention to Rahm as a single player. In the Obama administration, the buck stops with the president and as such Rahm's lone opinion will likely be viewed in the context of such matters that present themselves to the president. We should not allow ourselves to be duped into thinking that Rahm's opinions about anything will ultimately sway the president whose decisions hopefully will sufficiently reflect the will of the people. Rahm has already developed the kind of reputation that has led to his being hated by Democrats and Republicans alike, and despite the power he has amassed over the last twenty or so years, he won't necessarily be formulating policy, so what's all the fuss about?

Go up a few articles from this one, Rahm apologized and repudiated his fathers comments and is scheduled to meet with members of the Arab community on the matter. Honestly, will people get a grip already, Obama's not even in office yet and people expect him to change the world with buttercups and rainbows while he's at it.

Mere lip service. Rahm is well established as being a vicious z i o n i s t himself and is not very different from his father.

What exactly is a Chief of Staff suppose to do? How will Emanuel not carry out this task?

I think Rahm Emanuel was hired to do something that hasn't been done in ages, herd the cats that are the Democratic party. And if he can't get it done, that's when we start looking into cutting those who don't want to play from the herd.

Git along, lil' doogie!

He wasn't hired. He was appointed by Tel Aviv. He didn't even support Obama. This apparently was the big compromise when Obama beat Hillary -- to resolve the threatened defection by Jewish American voters over to McCain. (Apparently because they were worried Obama might not be a rabidly anti-arab racist, as is required by the Israel lobby). Next up: Obama calls Congress and directs them to leave Joe Lieberman alone, not to take away his privileges, let him do everything he has always done. Another Tel Aviv decision. Next up: Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State to make sure the U.S. continues wars against everyone in the middle east. This is so depressing to see the millions of people in this country who worked so hard to get Obama elected, yet everything he is doing is being dictated by a small group of wealthy people with loyalties to another country.

Well said.

It is so extremely disappointing that the "change" administration is walking the same AIPAC path.............i'm sooooooo let down by this. I thought I was voting for an even hand.

Emanuel is great, except that he is pro-war and more interested in his own ambitions than anything else.

Those are minor points.......or not.

I trust President-elect to choose whoever he sees fit to any post. He's the man and has shown he knows what he's doing.
