MIAMI, Nov. 12 -- Republican governors were the brightest spot in an otherwise dispiriting election last week for the GOP, but the chief executives gathered here Wednesday provided a gloomy assessment of their party's failures and a dark forecast for the future.

The Republican Party is ill situated to serve a changing America, they said. Members make excuses for corruption. The Bush administration and congressional leaders are fiscally irresponsible and have ceded the tax issue -- of all issues -- to the Democrats. Large swaths of the country are off limits to GOP candidates. Republicans have lost the technology advantage, and if they were part of a corporation, "heads would roll." It's going to be worse in 2010.

The Republican Governors Association, meeting at a sleek hotel on Biscayne Bay to survey the damage, itself is a thinned version of what it was in the heyday of GOP dominance of national politics. There will be 21 GOP governors come January, a loss of one, and only 16 of them made the trip.

I've watched the GOP for more than forty years now; they've always struck me as the party of perpetually petulant pessimists, whiners and sore losers EVEN WHEN THEY WERE IN POWER!
They have NOTHING positive to offer--never had!--and now they are so utterly out of touch with the vast majority of Americans that it's pathetic! But, of course, they still don't have a clue! Hope they enjoy the next forty years in the wilderness--losers!

The GOP gloomy? The GOP? Come on! OUR GOP? Gloomy?

Geez they are usually so cheery and upbeat.

Oh they must have just realized what is happening in Iraq and with our economy IS actually their fault. AND despite how much their radio brains scream the opposite, Bush IS their baby.

Love your baby, GOP! Love your baby! Where are all your family values now, GOP. \

The GOP is is contemplating a gloomy, dark forecast for THEIR PARTY and THEMSELVES! What about all the misery they have wrought/brought to our country, Iraq and to the rest of the world? Never a mention of doom and gloom that they have visited on all the rest of us. They only care about themselves and their political offices. What does that say about them?

????????????????????????

To the GOP, a song by Johnny Hates Jazz:

So much for your promises
They died the day you let me go
Caught up in a web of lies
But it was just too late to know

I thought it was you
Who would stand by my side

And now youve given me, given me
Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams
Feel like I could run away, run away
From this empty heart

You said youd die for me

Woke up to reality
And found the future not so bright
I dreamt the impossible
That maybe things could work out right

I thought it was you
Who would do me no wrong

Republicans: you've lost because you weren't honest with yourselves or America, put party and power before country, and turned your back on every one of your basic principles -- smaller government, less spending and individual liberties -- over the past eight years. You blame Bush now, but when did any of you raise your voices during his past two terms? You were mute as fish. When America needed ideas, why did you offer nothing but invective? The forecast may be dark and gloomy for you, but Americans chose a brighter, more hopeful prognosis on November 4. Why not join us in working together with your fellow citizens to make things better, rather than carp and criticize from the sidelines?

Yes folks the rethuglicans have finally invented the "Everlastingly Annoying Turbo Mouth"!! It consumes everything in its path and reduces it to gibberish. Just trying to determine heads from tails about what this igloo occupant is saying is enough to make your eyes cross and you IQ drop. But the rethugs did not stop there! They made the "Everlastingly Annoying Turbo Mouth" come with a piercing screech of a voice that will make your teeth bleed! Her vocal sound waves are designed to turn your brain to mush so that you too can easily become a loyal right wing lemming.

Are democratic politicians way more attractive than republican politicians or am I just imagining things. The cheyneys looked like smurfs, the less attractive variety, standing next to the Bidens.

hey i was just thinking of that since the photo of the Bush's and Obama's......maybe the pureness of your heart shines from within and makes you shine, because i can't think of a single republican, past or present, who doesn't have a sour-puss, prune face, bad hair or crazy rolling eyeballs. Scary people. Like trolls.

Well, when things were dark and gloomy after 9-11 you know what Bush wanted us all to do---go shopping . . . maybe Palin can find a few more consignment shops with her other Gov. buds.

It seemed much more like old school vs new school to me... granted, that encompasses the gender and race barriers, but I think it's much larger than those two, as well.

I did think that Mike Paul was about to open up a can of whoop ass on Pat Buchanan, though.

yeah-
Mike was calm and a voice of reason he is absolutely right and Pat got his lunch handed to him a bit.
Pat lives in the 70's and likes to yell, or whine depending how much on the defense he is.
even more so....
I was surprised that SP could read! Barely, but she did read-
her speech looked like a high school awards assembly.
