I Like ItI Don’t Like It

UPDATE at 5:46 PM EST:

Some Republicans were not happy with the way that the Palin press conference was conducted, complaining that it seemed intended to bolster her status as the leader of the party and that she was hogging the media attention.

According to CNN:

Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors' unity -- but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

One called it awkward: "I'm sure you could see it on some of our faces."

Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was "odd" and "weird," and said it "unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party."

There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.

In an interview with CNN, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour shrugged off that suggestion.

Story continues below

"That's just somebody running down a rabbit trail. There's plenty of oxygen here," he said.

More from The Daily Telegraph:

Here in Miami, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska has just given her first press conference since she shot to international prominence when John McCain picked her as his vice-presidential running mate. It was a mess. According to my digital recorder, the actual Q & A with her lasted three minutes and 23 seconds and there were just four questions - three before press staff attempted to shut the thing down.

It wasn't really Palin's fault. She was answering the questions competently, declining "to talk about strategy within a campaign that's over" and repeatedly pivoting back to talking about GOP governors - a dozen of whom were standing behind her (though one Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana was conspicuous by his absence). This is, after all, the Republican Governors Association gathering.

Perhaps out of a desire to stop it becoming the Sarah Palin Show, perhaps in an attempt to shield the Alaska governor from a Mainstream Media free-for-all, what was billed as a Palin press conference began with 13 governors filing in. Governor Rick Perry of Texas then gave a lengthy introduction. After that, Palin delivered her own remarks followed by the very brief question session.

As much as I dislike Palin for the way she ran her smear campaign, the conduct of Gov. Perry handling her like a sack of potatoes and cutting her off just as bad. Sexism is alive and well in the Republican party. What a train wreck that part is.

With due respect, that was not sexism, that was self-preservation. Who knows what moronic thing might have dripped out of Mrs. Palin's flapping jaws at any given moment?

Beyond that, there are undoubtedly those among the Republican governors who see the continued ascendency of that know-nothing of the north as a threat to their party. And, it had to be somewhat embarrassing and/or frustrating for some of those governors to be nothing more than props at the Sarah Palin Show. I wouldn't want to stand behind her - as though I were one of her supporters - while she answered all the questions.

Not every rude act directed at a woman is sexist. Being over-protective, however, is.

I think the Governor of Texas did the right thing. How dare this ignorant woman who uses her sexuality think that she will be taking over the Republican Party? Let's face it, the only reason she has gotten any traction at all in her political career is because of her looks. She uses it. Apparently, men really are stupid. It's refreshing to see a man act like a real man and not act like a little boy ready to piss all over himself. A real man knows a pretty woman is a dime a dozen and isn't so easily swayed. This guy is a guy to watch. He has real leadership abilities. The Governor of Texas basically told her, "you ain't taking over this party any time soon." There are too many little boys pissing in their pants when we need some real men around. Women who stand by this little boy behavior are enabling their men to be wimps. They need to be honest and say what they really feel about Palin. I don't care what any woman says publicly, no woman likes another woman who exploits their looks the way Palin does. I don't care what they say, when they support her it is the ultimate form of jealousy, they are so jealous they can't say a word against her, afraid they will be found out, that's the truth. Only confident women, who are secure in their own self are willing to say the truth about Palin.

She may have said something stupid, but the very fact that he would feel he *could* cut her off was sexist. Would Gov. Perry have grabbed a male Governor by the elbow and steered him to the podium? I doubt it. I doubt very much that Perry cuts off Governors Pawlenty, Schwarzennegger, Baldacci, etc., and takes questions for them.

As a women I saw no sexism in his actions, but I sure enjoyed it!

Even though she's been in the lower 48 for more than two months now (more than ample time for a complete thaw), she still seems to be suffering from a terminal brain freeze. Isn't it time for her to go back into hibernation in the Alaskan tundra for another 44 years? I think I hear Bullwinkle calling her!

Body language tells all ...

Repubs are not admitting their disatrous error in judgment, nor is she, she is simply pushed aside.

Repeating a post that someone put up yesterday, but it's so perfect for this thread: "Quotable: Sarah Palin's Top 10 Bloopers". One of the funniest articles I ever read. The link is on http://politicalnewsconnection.com/

Then gets cut off and pushed aside.
As it should be.

Sarah Palin is the living embodiment of everything the Republican Party stands for now. I absolutely think Republicans should double down and make her their nominee in 2012.

She looked like a little mouse once Perry took over. It's fascinating how her whole demeanor changed and we got to see an insecure Sarah Palin without the overly-confident facade.

Can she act anymore arrogant and snotty? IMMEDIATELY she had to correct the reporter asking the question. It is THAT demeanor, I feel, caused her to loose many that initially were enthused about her. Women, Dem OR Rethug's do not take well to a woman who STILL acts that way. Reminds me of the girl in school who was in THAT click who always made fun of others. Nothing personal here, just the way I see Palin. In her own mind, she is more than what she is and to those who choose to question her popularity, it seems she can be brutal. Pretty simplistic about her. So, for her to be restrainted in any way during the campaign must have been absolutely excrutiating for her. She's a real case study for the psych books.

Looks like the Republican party is splitting down the middle. No way the business conservatives want Palin, no way the religious conservatives want a businessman. Romney could almost do it, but support for him is too lukewarm on either side. They will have to find someone else or a new message to have a chance in 2012.

Great! Let her...
With her the new leader of the Republican Party, an Obama
re-election is certain.

But, even the Repubs see she is a BRAINLESS L O S E R of the highest order.

Go ahead, back to the Future!! Ronald Reagan and 80s B.S. ain't working today!!!

Shouldn't she be off getting pregnant again? Oh, wait -- that's what her youngest daughter is probably doing right now.
