E!:

So about those big-name guest stars on 30 Rock...

Last night's episode, featuring Jennifer Aniston, and, as an added bonus for fans of vintage NBC Thursdays, a Night Court cast reunion, was watched by a season-low 7.5 million, Nielsen estimates report.

The show's previous low (8.1 million) came a week ago, when no less than Oprah Winfrey appeared.

Overall, 30 Rock, bolstered more by Tina Fey's rising star than any one guest star, is bigger than ever, averaging 8.1 million through the first three weeks of its season.

Too bad. I thought this latest episode was better than the one with Oprah.

As much as it's beyond impossible for Jennifer Aniston to leave her inner Rachel behind no matter what role she plays, she's tolarable enough, and I love Liz, Jack, Kenny, Tracy and the rest simply to much to let her or anyone guesting make me miss it.

Alec Baldwin has become one of my favorite actors, filled with wit, character and expert comedic timing.

When did Jen Aniston become a "big name star"? I thought "Friends" ended a while ago.

I don't know why she's famous in the first place. She's so plain.

That's garbage! Aniston was at the height of her fame when she married Pitt. He did NOT make her!

Actually, that headline is misleading (did Karl Rove write it?).

The episode with Anistonwas the 3rd episode of Season 3... the 1st episode had the highest ratings the show has ever gotten -- that's the Fey-Palin effect.

The 2nd episode had Oprah Winfrey -- the ratings queen. Oprah's appearance was highly advertised, but that episode got lower ratings than then the 1st.

The 3rd eppisode last Thursday, with Aniston, got a bit lower ratings -- "only" 7.5 million viewers.
The fact that Aniston's appearance wasn't advertised, the fey-Palin effect wearing off, there was a Jets/Pats football game and the Latin GRAMMY Awards at the same time, affected the viewing numbers... yet the episode still got higher ratings than many episodes in the first two seasons.

HuffPo, I'm disappointed in you for posting such a misleading little blurb. It would be nice to think this site had dependable integrity (especially when I'm using it as a source in debates with angry, intellectually violent, far right poor losers).

I am not disappointed with this headline.

Why ?

Because this is typical for the Huffpo entertainments section. They have stupid sensational headlines.

nothing new....

I agree....I loved Fey on SNL and I like Baldwin too but I think 30 Rock is so lame with or without guest stars.

Jeniffer is a one dimensional actor, makes more tabloid news by default than act. Too many face jobs doesn`t help either ! Real actors are Tina and Alec.

People didn't tune in because Aniston is lame and corny. She needs to go away as much much as Sarah Palin. I never understood why some people think she is all that, she sucks at acting.

It's a great show, a decent episode, and Aniston was funny on it, but I felt like I'd seen that storyline before. It felt like the result of forced stunt casting. The Night Court plot ended up being a little more interesting.

NBC needs to just back off and let people find the show. It's scheduled against TWO really ratings-powerful shows; Grey's and CSI. If NBC wants to rule Thursdays with sitcoms again, they need to give it a chance the way they gave Cheers a chance and built the night largely on that success. I can guarantee they're spending less on 30Rock & The Office than ABC and CBS are spending on Grey's and CSI.

Next week with Steve Martin should be good.

What's the big deal here? The ratings are down everywhere. Last night's show was pretty good, and JA was very good doing a different character for her. Nice job. The Night Court stuff was great, especially Charles Robinson asking for the quarter! These actors are all better than many of the "stars" of current shows, and everyone can act circles around Tracy Morgan. Personally, I think he's the main reason this show's not doing better. They should put this up an hour, right after Earl. Better slot, and it's a much funnier show than Kath & Kim. Right now, it's in the "death" slot. Night Court was the only show that's been fairly successful there. Nice tribute.

Is it just as possible the ratings reflect that the show is lousy? It was funny for about a year and since then, not so much.

Jen Aniston has jumped the shark. SHe has no career other than as fodder for the tabloids. She thought she was a film star but can't draw butts to the theater seats and she has been away from what she's good at, TV, for too long.

Who cares when the show already has the best draw on TV, Tina Fey. They don't need stunt casting when they have her.

The problem is Alec is the only talented AND funny person on the show. The rest seem like they trying to hard and it's just not working.

Tina's character comes across badly. She doesn't come across like anyone who would actually have the job she has. AND that is necessary.

I LOVE this show, but I have to admit last night's episode was kind of boring . . . I wouldn't blame it all on Aniston, though. After all, she didn't write the script and basically the story/dialogue was kind of crappy. Usually this show is amazing from beginning to end. . . I hope this is just a blip, and won't turn into a trend. Last week's episode with Oprah and Pam was awesome.

Show's fine. JA has comedic chops (however limited) watch her in 'Office Space'. People have TV fatigue due to BO Transition overload/Campaign withdrawal. The 'Night Court' scenes are the real culprits...GUILTY!!!!

Not true, shows like The Mentalist, CSI, House Dancing are getting massive amt of viewers.

I meant their personal star power. I think the jen/brad/jolie triangle is orchestrated by just them. Gets attention.

Seriously. I think JA, AJ,and BP have been in cahoots all along, getting airtime in times of media overlooking them. Brilliant.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:46 AM on 11/15/2008

Its not JA's fault, this show isn't very good. There is a reason it has never been the top in its respective time slot.
