New York Daily News:

Barack Obama ended his campaign so flush with cash he's telling staffers to keep the change - and then some.

Long-suffering political footsoldiers who toiled tirelessly, at least since September, to put Obama in the White House recently learned they will be getting extra paychecks worth a month's salary, the Daily News has learned.

Much better to reward the hard working footsoldiers than to spend the donors' $$ on unnecessary lavish shopping sprees.

Hrmm... wasn't their health care coverage going to be taken care of until the end of the year, also?

I have to add, I would be highly offended if the millions the campaign raised in donations didn't reward the people that helped run the campaign. People were donating part of their own business site space to help the campaign. The foot soldiers going door to door trying to register people to vote. How could one acheive the highest position in the US and not reward his staffers? That's not a president I would respect.

If I understand correctly the money is supposed to be used for the purpose of the campaign. That would include paying the staff and workers. The campaign also has to show a report what the money was used for. They cannot use the money to pay off Hillary Clinton's debts. They must ask for separate donations to go towards Hillary Clinton. Could someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

This money is not being used for HRC's debts. It's to pay Obama staffers for Obama's election campaign.

You are right. Also, the money can not go to Obama's relations as posters on another site have been suggesting.

A testament to his promise that this bailout is a "loan from us taxpayers" where we will be the first ones paid back when the dust settles. SWEET, they all deserve it!

They worked hard, they deserved it.

Looking for this type of commitment on the economy.

Its good to see the Obama campaign treat its people with some dignity. 1 month's pay is not really that great, it's pretty much the standard blue collar severence amount. But, yes, unfortunately most campaign workers just get thanked at the end of a campaign.

I was just re-reading an article on PE Obama's shoes, with the pic of the ones with the holes. Great to know that his expenditure goes t o rewarding his hard-working staff and not to "$150,000.00" shoes.

I know most of us, if it were possible, would love to shake the hand of everyone of the campaign workers, but since that's not physically possible, thank you Bararck, for doing it on our behalf :)

The reason why most of us are ok with this is because it was widely reported that the Obama staff pretty much skimped on everything in the past 2 years. No super luxurious hotel stays, no extravagant dinners, nothing of the sort.

And even with that, the soldiered on because they believed in Obama.

And one month's salary is NOTHING in comparison to 2 years of being away from family and friends to work 16 - 20 hour days.

A bonus for those staffers who sacrificed much and worked tirelessly and who probably now have to look for employment at holiday time is good . This bonus of a month's salary is nothing compared to the millions the fat cat bankers and other Wall Street dunk that t barely do a day's work get.

This is the sign of a well managed campaign/employer that uses it resources wisely and rewards its workers. Kudos to you Mr. Obama and all of your staffers who worked so hard.

Yes. Obama's staffers were very frugal with the donation money, and they deserve to be rewarded.

As an ardent supporter of Obama's both emotionally and financially I wholeheartedly support this. Those people deserved it and how kind of him to reciprocate.

I can vouch that many of the offices were not in "high rent districts" and although the day of the election when I was phone banking, there were goodies galore because volunteers provided for them. There may have been "office" money used for some things, but people worked hard, especially putting in long hours and eating pizza a lot of the times. They have earned the bonus and other perks that he is giving them. Next month, I will contribute to Hillary and DNC to help out. This month, I have to pay for all my commemorative stuff. LOL.....Job well done guys and girls.

Yes I too can vouch for the not in high rent districts, and many venue's were loaned for a week or more at no expense to the campaign, just out of the goodness of peoples hearts!!

Oh don't forget the crock pot with the ramen noodles!!
