Marc Ambinder:

A strategist for a rival potential presidential rival e-mails to express amusement with Gov. Sarah Palin's come one, come all PR strategy:

"Fine with us. Let her be the sacrificial lamb for 2012."

Which means: a lot of the folks who you'd think are angling to run in 2012 are certainly preparing to do so, but they're looking to and thinking about 2016....

There's something very dangerous about Palin.

A lipstick on a p. ig analogy will really make sense this time around if they nominate her for 2012. lol

You know, that "lipstick on a pig" line wasn't about Palin to being with, so I don't know why you all are adopting McCain's dishonest reinterpretation of it.

The only problem with the "sacrificial lamb" strategy is that once in a while, they actually get elected.
That's how Alaska wound up with Congressman "I'll bite you like a mink" Don Young.
If anyone wants an explanation, I'll be happy to oblige.

I am like most people. I could not understand the media's infatuation with Palin. After careful thought I finally figured it out. It is called morbid curiosty. The same way when drving on the high way and seeing a deadly car crash, seeing the white sheets being pulled over a body, you can't help but to look. Took me a while but I got it.

absolutely! We as human beings are fascinated by a train wreck.
I wonder why? I'd really be interested to know the biology behind it.

I agree with the car wreck analogy but this is the same country that elected Bush twice. I am scared that after 4 or 8 years of Barack and his team cleaning up this mess or making progress in cleaning it up, we will go right back and let another idiot savant come in and screw it up.

My guess is that Palin will burn her bridges long before 2012. If the GOP nominate her they're even dumber than the 2008 campaign would suggest.

I love this picture. Add some more dark eye make-up and a horned head dress and voila - Malificent!

By the looks of that photo, above, if I'm a fellow wolf, I'm headin' for the hills and such, also.

Hey HuffPo, where'd you get the photo that makes Governor Palin look like the Dragon Lady from Steve Canyon? Nice look for the new campaign. Yikes!

Seems to me that instead of planning for 2012, all parties concerned ought to be planning for 2009-2011. We have bigger fish to fry now, and future candidate wannabes ought to prove they're interested in, and capable of, doing something besides getting votes. I don't even know yet if I'm voting for Obama in 2012, because I haven't seen his track record yet!

FINALLY - A Republican strategist who GETS IT! In all likelyhood, we have a two-termer in Obama on our hands (Thank Goodness!) The only ones who will run in 2012 are the ones the Republicans want to put out to pasture. As I have said all along, PLEASE - Run, Sarah, Run! 2012!!!

Correct. Post Nixon/Ford, two terms were there unless Carter screwed up. He did, so Hello Reagan. There were two terms after "economy stupid" Bush 41, and Clinton took advantage. The same opportunity sits here for BHO. He won't likely pull a Carter.

There's a two-edged sword hanging over our heads here-

Edge One- We got to know Barack Obama because of the intensive news coverage he recieved for the past X-number of months. It finally dawned on enough people that his candidacy was an actual possibility.
Score one for our side.

Edge Two- The same may hold true for Gov. Palin- the dolts may rise up again. Enough sustained notoriety could deliver us into the land of know-nuttin', moose-guttin' christianninnies.

As much as it would benefit the Democrats to have Palin run in 2012, I'm just not sure I could take another political cycle of this ignoramus! I am simply incredulous at the infatuation that certain people share for this woman. She has been thoroughly exposed as a fraud; a simple minded person without a basic understanding of domestic or international affairs.

Sarah...spare us another circus of an election...stay in Alaska and fade back into obscurity! Please!

All depends on Obama's 4 years...If everything is ok then she'll be a sacrificial lamb. If Obama's term is like Jimmy Carter's, then we'll have a new president in 2013. And not necessarly Palin.
