Marc Ambinder:

A strategist for a rival potential presidential rival e-mails to express amusement with Gov. Sarah Palin's come one, come all PR strategy:

"Fine with us. Let her be the sacrificial lamb for 2012."

Which means: a lot of the folks who you'd think are angling to run in 2012 are certainly preparing to do so, but they're looking to and thinking about 2016....

Sarah Palin does not seem to understand that she will not be the little darling if she decides to run for prez. in 2012. She will be competing with some who have been there a long time and have a lot more clout than she does, plus she will be running against a President Obama, with four years as Commander in Chief, under his belt. The, I have more experience than him argument will not apply at that point, in addition the country will have found out that much of the garbage that has been strewn around in this election, is simply false and Obama is actually a great leader.

After hearing Tim Pawlenty last night on MSNBC, I think it would be wise for him to sit 2012 out, especially if Obama does very well. I like Pawlenty and would hate to see him waste his time for 2012. So, I say yes, let Palin run for 2012, while the RNC moderates quietly fight to take back their party

Yes, if Obama does well, let Palin run. It will be hard for anyone to beat him, especially if the economy is up, we end the war, yada yada yada. Pawlenty would be smart to wait until 2016. I agree totally.

This woman is so vile and arrogant. I say let her talk, more stuff to throw in her face in 2012. At the rate she's going she wouldn't make it through a primary. Plus she's so stupid she doesn't realize history's working against her-no person who was ever on the losing side as a VP nominee has ever ended up in the White House. Remember Jack Kemp? Dan Quayle? Joe Lieberman? It is extremely hard to knock out an incumbent President from the White House, although possible (Look at Jimmy Carter-Ronald Reagan), but it would have to involve two things: (1)incumbent President is completely disagreeable to both Congress and American public and (2)major disaster-think Hurricane Katrina or 9/11. No offense, Palin has poor favorable numbers already and I don't think with her temperament and intelligence that they will become any better for her in four years. She's way too extreme in her views and the American public is not having any of it on a large scale.

Plus she's already questioning President-elect Obama's judgement. Look, Hilary Clinton threw her punches (which were the best), lost and started to fundraise and work with Obama, and now she might be Secretary of State. John McCain threw some lovetap punches and don't be shocked if he takes his excommunication from his own party as an opportunity to jump ship and either become a member of Obama's cabinet or a Senate Democrat.

Sacrificial lamb?

Does that mean the RNC will be circling in planes with rifles?

It is Sarah Palin and the flat world caucus. She was a disaster. What was up with the "I am Joe Sicpack" (Is that code for I am woefully ill informed and uneducated) Who dreamed up all the exxagerated winking at the vp debate? (Could you imagine Governor Jodi Rell of Ct or Kathleen Sebelius doing the Betty Boop wink at a debate?) It was fun to watch her wind up and take the ticket down. Now with all these interviews that show how shallow her knowledge is- it was like "what was McCain thinking"? At least if he picked Tim Pawlenty he would have lost with some dignity.

In another month it is going to be "Sarah who?" .

What's with the Blanche Dubois pose? All she needs is a super long cigarette and dragon lady nails to complete the look.

The GOP may have to go through several cycles of sacrificial lambs (I always thought McCain was a sacrificial lamb) before they become a viable party again.. and, IMHO, Palin is more of a goat.

Smart republicans know that 2016 is the real deal. They will just continue to feed her red meat and let her implode on her own arrogance.

The more she talks the less people like her.. and that includes Republicans. There wasn't a single GOP Governor on that stage with her yesterday that didn't want to strangle her once they figured out she wanted a photo op wit them as props....
