A world class economist is offering up some down home advice: Don't stuff your money in the mattress, it won't do anyone any good in there.
Professor Doug Diamond at the University of Chicago's Booth Business School says better the money should go into a federally insured bank to earn some interest with total protection. That's money that can be used to restart the nation's economic engine.
A professor of finance, Diamond is offering up some rather skinny rays of sunshine. He says "It'll get worse before it gets better, but this will be a standard recession, and not a depression."
