PARIS — U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan has been pelted with a flour bomb on arrival at a Paris nightclub wearing a fur stole.

Animal rights activists showered the 22-year-old actress with flour when she went to the VIP Room Theater in the early hours of Saturday with her friend, disc jockey Samantha Ronson.

The owner of the nightclub helped Lohan dust off her blue sequined dress and black stole before she posed on the red carpet. Ronson went on to spin tracks for a crowd that included reggae rapper Shaggy and "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry.

If you saw what the animals experience in order to provide their fur for her vanity, you might think that a flour bomb was not enough.

the flour bomb was idiotic nor do most of these people care about animals and it would be more impressive if these cowards would attack someone besides women.Quite a few of these "animal rights" people wear leather and eat meat.

What would PETA say if Republicans went around dumping flour on everyone who wore an Obama shirt?

This kind of behavior doesn't belong in a peaceful democracy.

PETA should look at the marijuana reform movement as a role model. Medical marijuana just won Michigan by more votes than Obama! We won every single country -- we even won the counties that voted for McCain.

And we did it the old-fashioned way -- by carefully educating the voters and resisting the urge to get their attention with cheap stunts aimed at our opponents.

The marijuana movement is a good role model for how to accomplish peaceful democratic change, and PETA is a bad role mode, because PETA wages campaigns that smack of abuse and intimidation.

The marijuana reform movement would not last very long if we used PETA tactics. We wouldn't be winning elections, that's for sure.

By the way, PETA did not win Propr. 2. The Humane Society was in charge of the campaign and they don't pull cheap stunts to intimidate their opposition. That's why I voted for 2.

If PETA had campaigned for 2 using the tactics they just used on Lindsay Lohan, I would have voted against 2 as a vote against those tactics.

Right on. I don't want Lindsay Lohan to stop wearing fur because someone dumped flour on her. I would hope she decides to stop wearing fur because she realizes how wasteful and mean it is, considering the bountiful fake-fur options.

If you stop someone from doing something like wearing fur through intimidation and fear tactics, you really haven't changed their minds. Education is the way to go.

She has already been educated - with video and literature. This isn't the first time she's been confronted about her fur.

Agreed! In a perfect world I would support an organization like PETA's, but it seems they're all about shock and nude women. The tone of their campaigns all seem to imply a "look at me! i'm a born and raised suburban kid who wants to play revolutionary with animals! I'm the best! Everyone else is inferior!" Bah.

If you want to support animal rights, try some other organizations the Humane Society of the United States http://www.hsus.org//], not these sad attention whores.

Give now and give generously to the Lindsay Lohan Rehab Foundation.

Donate your old furs and leather goods so that Lindsay can go back into rehab--again--and perhaps get it right this time.

Almost makes you think that she called her crew and told them to dust her up so she could get a little extra press.

Now someone will post her blog entry of the total uncoolness of this life, world, cheap drugs, famous do nothings, bad movies, bad messages, arrogance and worthlessness.

By the looks of these posts people are so offended by this happening to another homosapien. Lots of cries for violence, jail time, laws, etc.

Homosapiens are the only group of species if removed from the planet, the planet would be returned to its natural order. no more insects--no more planet. the same for amphibian, other mamals, birds, etc. We are the only group F-ing up the planet.

But then the world doesn't count for sh*t if it cannot be viewed by human eyes, right?

Imagine what the world would look without human interaction. How many months before a tree took over your house? water would break through dams. industrial smog, refuse, runoff, GONE.

The tragic rights of Lindsay Lohan were trampled on. Philosophy and words as the world truly does spin of it's axis as we battle for rights and the rule of law which sometimes amounts to nothing.

No animal on the planet does not long for and await with great joy the end of homosapiens.

It can't happen soon enough for them.

You are assigning human values and emotions to a natural order problem. Trust me, if the animals had their way they would wear and eat you with little regard as to your feelings or how your last days were spent. If they were the intellect and we were the beasts asked to steer clear of them your argument would make sense.

PETA people need to back off of their hypocrisy and their lunacy.

You didn't learn about global warming from a team of scientist-minks.

There are no lab mice or minks in the field of climate science. The lab mice and minks don't care whether we all live or die. They don't ever care if OTHER mice or minks die. They only care about getting food and sex right now. That's the extent of their concern for any other species' welfare.

The homosapien environmentalists won't be able to save the world if everyone starts acting like PETA, deciding it's acceptable to intimidate their political opposition using tactics like theirs.

You can forget this planet if we all start handling our disagreements the way PETA handles theirs.

Huffington Post is a great site. It really shows the distortions that people will form to justify any point of view that lets them do what they want and still sleep well at night.

I'm sure just as much lunacy was behind the justification to grant caged animals more liberties, while stripping liberties from gays and lesbians in California.....

What has happened to this country? I feel like the Earth is spinning off its axis!!!

gays we're not organized, nor are they being tortured, an almost analogy.

if you care to view an animal factory video or fur industry unauthorized video just go over to PETA. Until you have seen some of these you really can't say it is a non-issue.

Gays are coming out now and standing up with their new found support with the democratic landside. THANK GOD. The measure and the promotion of it--like all politics--was handled in a far more organized and highly funded way v. those against the ammendment.

Blame it on campaigning, $ and organization. Have faith, people are really pissed off. It was assumed it would be defeated and this is what happened.

Here in FL same thing, the pollsters claimed it would not pass, and it did.

Gays are one of the final groups that it is okay to make fun of and show hate. The movement has to wake up and get the country on its side.

What has happened to this country?

People who can't distinguish the difference between human rights and animal rights and who feel that animal rights outrank human rights.

People who throw flour on a fur wearing, openly bisexual woman. The fur was judged to be a far more important issue to address.

Maybe someone can go back and apologize to her and see if she's interested in donating some money and speaking out for gay civil liberties...nah...she's a fur wearer and her help would be tainted with mink blood mingled with flour and not pure enough.

This is about wearing the steak, not eating it! Maybe you should tune in and take a position on something.

I'm very chilled-out; your comment is very hostile. Should the civets, rabbits, minks, seals...get on here to make their own argument for sparing them a miserable existence, so that Lindsy can as bad as usual?

To the animal there is no difference between being worn and being eaten.I always find it amusing to see animal rights people wearing leather and eating meat.I,also, find it amusing that these activists mainly attack women and not leather and fur clad males.

Wearing the steak....lol. Got leather?

Civets and minks and rabbits are raised in pens - for human use. Just like chickens.

All the animals would like a voice here - they would say please will you all drop dead and leave us alone.

And every herd or pen animal has a miserable existance - cows and chickens just don't have the cachet as civets though. Looks like the only animals worthy of flour tossing are the ones we don't usually eat and most can't afford to wear.

Minks raised in pens are no different than chickens - raise them, kill them and do whatever you want to with the carcass.

Throwing an object at a person is, by law, assault.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:37 AM on 11/16/2008

Hardly an assault...as many people here continue to label it that.
In case you are unsure of the meaning of assault - an unlawful physical, violent attack upon another.

I guess a snowstorm is an assault too?

It is--by law--assault and battery. If you threw the snowstorm at a person, then it would be assault.

Maybe it has nothing to do with fashion. Maybe it is just the thought of folks getting all worked up about some pen bred minks and thinking that millions upon millions upon millions of pen bred chickens are a different topic.

It's hard to stick up for the minkies while wearing a dead cow and with tummies filled with a dead chicken.

The mink and the cow and the chicken but only the mink is worthy of fighting for. The cow and the chicken envy the mink.

Random comment. It bemused me sometimes whenever I realized that a large percentage of animal activists are from middle class and upper class families. They tend to be private school educated, too. I find that there's a history of people this type go on to become ordinary housewives, business people, politicians, writers and so on.

I know at least twelve of my former school friends who are members of various anti-whatever societies. In light of this thread, two of them are members of an anti-vivisection society.

Whenever they get arrested, their parents are usually the ones to bail them out. I find that kinda weird, considering. This response has no point, really. Just a casual observation.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:51 AM on 11/16/2008

I'm not an animal activist... nice assumption. It's not random, it's critical of the displaced priorities of the wealthy in the country.

I'm not a kid living with my parents either... I came from a poor family and put myself through college. I graduated at the top of my class from UCSD with a degree in Molecular Biology, Phi Beta Kappa, Research Scholar and published 8 peer reviewed articles of novel gene families associated with drug resistance in bacteria. Over the past 10 years I helped to develop the first molecular based assays to test the blood supply for infectious disease, so don't think you have it all figured-out my young little Takae....

If my point eludes you, that speaks to your incapacity to think critically, not the merits of my argument.

Precisely because I didn't grow-up as a spoiled middle-class know-it-all, is what I find troubling about the wealthy (undeserved) and their misplaced priorities. If I had her kind of cash, it would be put to a lot bet use than supporting the wholesale slaughter of animals for fashion.

Your opinions are very subjective and demonstrate a lack of life experience.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:41 AM on 11/16/2008

If I was to critique your post, I'd have to say that it is highly critical of your "friends" and full of assumptions about their motivations. Ultimately, you admit that you really have nothing to say, except you spend a lot of time being hard on anyone who is "middle-upper class" (not sure what your measure is for that), attended private school (again, not sure why a private school is important to eventual career choice), and "anti-whatever societies" (no Pro-whatever societies?).

I will commend your two friends who are against vivisection, though. If you've never worked in a facility that conducts such horrific practices, then I guess I can't expect you to appreciate the suffering those animals go through.

My suggestion is for you to volunteer at a vivarium for one summer and garner some life experience in a field that may end-up changing your point of view. I personally lasted 6 months at Scripps Institute studying drug addiction and killed hundreds of animals in order to extract their brain for electrochemical studies of nerve cells. My other job was to kill a pregnant rat 1 day before delivery, extract her placental chain with the live babies, snip-off their heads and pull apart their brains for the hypocampus.

That was enough for me to know that what I was apart of was not moral by my values. So, don't rush to judge your friends before you understand their experience.

Grow a heart and quit defending the defenseless actions of over-paid, spoiled actors and socialites.

Animals do not exist for our pleasure. We CO-EXIST with them on the only plant that supports life. I suspect you're pro-life. But, also pro-war, pro-death penalty, and believe God gave us dominion over the animals when he "created" Adam and Eve.
