PARIS — U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan has been pelted with a flour bomb on arrival at a Paris nightclub wearing a fur stole.

Animal rights activists showered the 22-year-old actress with flour when she went to the VIP Room Theater in the early hours of Saturday with her friend, disc jockey Samantha Ronson.

The owner of the nightclub helped Lohan dust off her blue sequined dress and black stole before she posed on the red carpet. Ronson went on to spin tracks for a crowd that included reggae rapper Shaggy and "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry.

Lindsey Lohan is a regular person trying to be a celebrity. She has no personal distinction except her ability for making social blunders, narcissistic failures and cyclical impulsive behaviors. People are supporting her trademark lifestyle of social exhibition and personal destruction.

Furs were originally worn to stop people from freezing to death in harsh cold climates, there's no excuse to wear such attire in this day and age, just bolster some one's vanity.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:44 PM on 11/15/2008

Relative to clothing attire, I prefer the term "choice" rather than "excuse."

I think the term "excuse" is more commonly referred to the behavior and rationale of flour throwers.

Is that what you prefer? Who cares?

"there's no excuse to wear such attire in this day and age"

How about "she WANTS to?"

Since when do we determine another individual's clothing needs, and dictate to people what they are allowed to wear?

And you call, Republicans "F a s c i s t."

It would be fine to let her do whatever she wants as long as she's not inhumanely slaughtering another being for vanity's sake. Don't be under the misimpression that animals used for fur don't suffer. Freedom of choice is fine, until you infringe on another being's right so you can look hip. That being said, I wish activists would stop throwing stuff like this cause it really is not productive.

So, if I wanted to wear human skin, that would be OK? Our freedoms end where the suffering of others begin, it is very clear that we don't get to do anything simply because we "WANT" to (quoting your all caps).

Some people might want to go around nude, but our culture (via laws, public attitudes, etc) dictates otherwise, out of the interest of protecting those who would rather not be unexpectedly confronted with sweaty balls at work or other places. So we don't get to wear whatever we want simply because we want to. Frankly, I don't support wearing fur or throwing flour on anyone, but your failure to think your argument through to its logical end really bugged me.

Flour? Is that the paint of the millieum? I always wondered why the activists threw paint at a fur, ruining it, and causing its owner to buy another - which I think would be the oposite of what they wanted. Maybe they are getting smarter beacuse I think flour comes out of fur and can be worn again. They can pelt (pardon the pun) away at this fur again and again drawing a news story every time.

By the way, why are DJs celebrities now? Wow you can mix I Kissed a Girl with Stronger -- what an artist! I don't get it....

If those so-called rights activists had any balls, they'd treat Snoop Dogg that way whenever he wears the fur. Thing is tho, bullies don't have any balls.

Maybe he's on the list. Also, a lot of people, women for example, are not interested in having a pair of balls.

You're a real big man to stick up for Snoop and Lohan. They love you. I hope you don't feel too scared by the people throwing flour, it reads like you've been traumatized.

So true about rappers/thugs. They wear fur all the time but the wussy PETA folk would rather go after some weenie little chick. Hypocrites, no other word for it.

Yeah, because those wussy PETA folk may be stupid, but they ain't crazy. If they threw some thing on a fur garment worn by a "rapper" or a "thug", they (the wussy PETA folk) would be recovering in an intensive care unit.

That's priceless. The flour throwers are bullies! Not the sadists who give a damn about the pain and suffering they inflict when they buy the skins of animals.

Sounds precisely like the recent laughable justification of McCain for his deplorable behavior, "If you'd only had Town Hall meetings with me ...."

I expect that from a 5 year old. Once.

It must be a generational thing. These "celebrity" DJs are something that I just don't understand. If there is any talent, it is with the people who made the recordings. I'm not sure that sufficient technical competence to run a cd player or turntable is that big a deal.

Tell me where I might be missing the boat.

Here's the boat: if you want Lohan to show up and do her drunken idiot act, you hire her girlfriend to come play records at your club.

This probably makes Lohan look classier than if they admitted they were paying her management company $20,000 for her to show up at their club.

I saw something on here about Native people and fur use.... Indigenous people actually have a connection with the animals they kill. I'm an anthropologist who has studied Inuit populations. There is usually a prayer involved with the slaughter and the Inuits use all parts of the animals. They dont kill massive amounts, they take what they need and use everything. The same can't be said for Lindsay Lohan, or bikers. I'm not defending throwing flour on someone but I'm saying thats why PETA (who I believe is a t.err.or.is.t organization) leaves them alone. This may not even be attributed to them for all I know, but I wouldnt be surprised..

Your comment underscores my point.

There is a huge difference between "soft" or "hard" targets.
I've noticed that in EVERY instance, PETA opts for the "soft."

By contrast, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society people at least show real courage when they intervene in whaling activities.

Where do you see the word "PETA" in the story? Is that org synonymous for you with anyone who cares about animals?

You might note that different laws apply in international waters - in which whalers are clearly breaking the law - than on the streets when someone is wearing fur, which would account for some of the difference in tactics.

but check out this website anyway http://www.furisdead.com watch animals skinned alive for their fur, which happens routinely (it's easier to pull the fur off a live animal than a dead one, when rigor mortis has set in).

oh! waaahhh! oh, the poor animals.

i'm all for treating animals well. but the activists who make a life out of 'defending the poor animals' are always the same- weak willed, simple-minded, hypocritical malcontents who just want something to complain about. they like drama in their life and wouldn't know what to do if they had no 'cause' to fight the power for.

lots of people do lots of things we don't like. i may not like the fact that you drive an SUV. does that give me the right to throw paint on you and your vehicle when you come to my neighborhood? no, because we have laws that protect our personal choices from dolts who disagree with us that would use violence to force us into doing what they wish.

activists, no matter what the cause- christianity, abortion, gay rights, gun owners' rights: all the same. they're all hypocritical on a level they couldn't possibly comprehend because they're blinded by the zealosy of the convert.

i'm surprised that these little people can hurl flour with those small arms. throwing something at someone who drives an SUV or wears fur is just plain wrong. if you want to win the battle of ideas, you have to fight it on the field of ideas. throwing things? what if i don't like the band's t-shirt you're wearing? I'll just throw something at you, right?

sure, if the t-shirt was carved off a caged tortured executed wild animal, yeah probably.

...but not if it was just some HUMAN BEING being tortured to produce it, right? nah, just go on being oblivious to the fact that it is simply impossible for you not to be hypocritical when you claim no one should be 'permitted' in this free society to wear animal fur, but they should DEFINITELY back off your right to wear something that is produced under the supervision of HUMAN rights violations...

giggle, giggle, giggle. you're a hypocrite unable to win this one, granny.

Lindsay can't sell movie tickets any longer. Her films have flopped like old pancakes. She is on the wane. I wonder if it was outrage over the furs, referring to President Obama as 'coloured' or her denial of her lesbianism. Lohan is such a flop that it would be hard to establish just what in particular outraged the French.

Just don't know how to be balanced about this issue. Close to 100,000 of our native people affected, most of whom are on welfare now as a result much misinformation about the fur trade. They do not just hunt to make a living ($), food and warmth is an issue for them as well.

I am speaking primarily of Inuit, who populate the northern most areas of Canada. They have been involved in the fur trade with each other and Europe for a few centuries.

He's in Canada, which has a huge aboriginal population. It may well be fact.
Many people in Alaska (though not in those numbers) rely on the fur trade as well.

Native peoples who wear fur for warmth are not the target of the activists. If they are the beneficiaries of the fur trade (most fur is farmed, now anyway), then they can be helped to learn another trade. You don't keep something horrible going because people are used to doing it. That's not enough reason.

Wearing an animal skin was necessary for our ancestors. Is it really necessary for us, now???

While I abhor cruelty to animals, personally, I don't have any emotional issues with being at the top of the food chain.
I just find it suspect that that animal rights activists will throw flour or paint on women wearing furs, but they don't do the same to certain people clad in leather - people like the Hell's Angels or the Mongols.
Makes me doubt their commitment to the cause.

The way animals are killed for their fur is particularly cruel. You can look it up, it is too gruesome to post here.

I too feel it makes a difference how animals are treated while alive and how they are killed. It's why I don't eat much meat/eggs/milk and am particular about which sources I support.

Right On. Few people have the courage to actually sit through an animal factory or fur industry undercover video. They all hand their heads and say something should be done, but until you witness it, it's just words.

They may be committed to "the cause", but as evidenced by a) the inconsistency you cite, and b) the sometime irrational rants and inordinate reactions, there may exist subconscious motives/issues, so I'm not certain that they're aware of precisely what their cause is.

Ya think that targeting fur or leather wearers who can't or won't hurt them might have something to do with it?
It would be interesting to see what happened if PETA members thew red paint or flour on a member of the Hell's Angel's the Mongols, or the Outlaws MC's.
I think THAT would be a news item.
At least, the aftermath would.
