Bobby Jindal

CBS News:

When asked about the future course of the Republican Party following their losses on Election Day - losing not only the White House but also considerable ground in the House and Senate - Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana said it is imperative his party offers solutions to voters, and not just be the opposition.

"As Republicans, we need to do three things to get back on track," he said on CBS' Face The Nation. "Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric.

One of the things that's wrong with the GOP is that it has members like Bobby Jindal.... all icing... no cake.

Perhaps they can get Jindal to exorcise the Republican Party of it's demons, instead of just learning what America is ALL about.

REPUBLICANS REELING FROM ELECTION DEFEAT MET IN MIAMI, LAMENTED SOMETHING WAS WRONG, BUT DIDN'T REALIZE THAT BUSH DRAGGED THEIR PARTY DOWN WITH HIM

By Hermie Rotea

While licking their election defeat wounds, Republican leaders headed by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.), and rising GOP leaders, Governors Bobby Jindal (Louisiana), John Huntsman (Utah), Mitch Daniels (Indiana), and of course Senator John McCain's defeated nomination rivals, all agreed that something was wrong that caused their poll debacle last Nov. 4.

But of course, everything was wrong with the Republican Party. One did not have to be a political wizard or rocket scientist to know that it was mainly because their trigger-happy cowboy and oilman, President Bush, had committed serious and unparadonable political, economic, and war sins that sealed their doom and recklessly allowed him to drag down their party with him in shameful defeat.

So much so that President-elect Barack Obama during the campaign succeeded in his message that a Republican victory would be more of the same Bush policy of eight years which was a mess, thus pushing the United States to the edge of a new Great Depression. So, Republicans, wake up!

Listen to your radio gurus&mdash;Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, and the rest of the hatemongers. That's what's wrong with your party. All you have is hatred for everything and everybody. And you spend millions of dollars trying spread it like a virus to the rest of us. We reject you and your sickness.

That's what wrong with your party. Fix that. Otherwise, you have nothing to offer.

Does everyone notice that Jindal is not black?

He may have dark skin, but he's not black.

He really wants you to know that.

He joined the republican party so no one would mistake him for a black person, just like every black-skinned person who joins the GOP.

LOL...I almost fell out of my seating after reading your post. Right before I read it I was thinking..."Why do Jindal and Steele think that the GOP is going to let them lead?" Are they just blind to the "Country Club" mentality of their own party? If Jindal and Steele decide to try to lead the party just wait for the Tennessee GOP to jump in and we'll also see new versions of "Obama Bucks". That party wouldn't give Mitt a chance because he's Mormon-but at least he is White.

He's Indian, Is that his fault ? No one would mistake him for an African American even if he were a democrat. We need to get rid of these racial stereotypes, that was a motivation for me to vote Obama.

The Republicans are at their same old game. They think they can put someone of color out there for all to see spouting the same silly crap of trickle down economics, creationism, denying a woman's choices, against gay marriage/rights, and privatization of essential services and we're suppposed to be sheep and follow them. Uh...no, not going to happen.

We've seen it before with J.C Watt, Michael Steele, Alan Keyes, J.Kenneth Blackwell, Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice and now Bobby Jindal. They are all prominent people of color. Some may be nice and mean well. But they're only mouthpieces for the status quo.

The Republican Party needs to take a look back at the McCain/Palin rallys and see the lack of diversity that was displayed. That should give them a clue of what direction to take. They must also learn that it is not the package, but the substance of what that package brings that counts.

When they achieve that and have crowds as diverse as President-Elect Obama does, then maybe we can say they have turned the corner and have truly become a party of inclusiveness.

Doesn't the right usually end this argument with "we were not conservative enough" ?

That lesson always goes unlearned.

It seems to me that the old white men running the GOP think that they can choose any woman to run for office, and all women will flock to their party; that they can choose any person of color to run for office, and all minorities will flock to their party. Until they find qualified and competent women and minorities to run for national office, they are not doing themselves any favors by offering up second bests as alternatives to Democrats.

This guy acts as if he just realize this. When did this view dawned on him? He should have said that when things wasn't so bad for them to give himself some creds. Saying it now just make it appears as if you are going to say anything to look good. Whats wrong with this party? This is a new age now. You can de-bunk lies in a heartbeat. No more say "this and that" and no one will be the wiser.

I agree with Jindal that there is something wrong with the Republican Party. Jindal confirms it by his belief that creationism should be taught in public schools. He represents the same old, same old...

I always saw through it and did not vote for him, but George W. appeared to be "moderate" in 2000. They like to do the ol bait and switch. I hope America doesn't fall for it again.
