Bobby Jindal

CBS News:

When asked about the future course of the Republican Party following their losses on Election Day - losing not only the White House but also considerable ground in the House and Senate - Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana said it is imperative his party offers solutions to voters, and not just be the opposition.

"As Republicans, we need to do three things to get back on track," he said on CBS' Face The Nation. "Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric.

My biggest problem with the GOP is their utter comtempt for the poor while claiming to be Christian. Jindal says he's Christian yet he supports co-payments for Medicaid.

They'll do anything for power, and you can just hear the slanderous things that will be said . . . by the right broken wing!

Does'nt scare me at all. Bring him on, and we'll kick his tail. He represents a party whose ideology is historically wrong. Wrong on principle. And wrong for America in the 21st century.

I don't know. i hope you are right. There is a part of this country that still holds tightly to their guns and their religion. I had to steal that line from Obama, but I reall believe that it is true. Hopefully, in the next 4 years those people's views will evolve.

I'm seriously laughing at this guy... THIS is the best they have to offer?

If Jindal is the GOP's savior, then the Dems are going to be in power for a long time. The Republican Party seems to think that running on wedge issues and throwing out gimmick candidates will get you votes, they just didn't seem to pay attention to THIS years election. They nominated Sarah Palin as VP, hoping to b reak into Barack Obama's base of female voters, the Palin pick just drove more females to vote for Obama. They thought Joe the Plumber would get more middle class voters, Joe the Plumber just got John McCain's campaign laughed at. And now Jindal is supposedly going to get m inority votes because he has d ark skin, seriously what progressive ideas does this guy have? His views are a virtual clone of Sarah Palin's, he has NO chance of winning. Please Republicans, run THIS guy, I want to see all 50 states turn a shade of blue.

Jindal, the biggest problem with the GOP party is they spew hate and divide this country. Fix that.

You know he couldn't say such a thing, given the reaction he would have gotten from the base.

obama should watch out for this guy....extremely brilliant and perhaps inspiring. i agree that his ethnicity may hurt him...even though it shouldn't....2016 will be his time....not 2012. I'm going with obama for a second term no matter what!!

Who are you kidding, Jindal doesn't even inspire his base with his right wing views, how the heck is he supposed to win on a national level?

We elected a minority candidate, now the Republicans are tossing this guy out to try and get on the minority bandwagon... the GOP need to quit with the gimmicks and get someone like Tim Pawlenty that would actually inspire people to cross party lines to vote for.

This guy's views are a virtual clone of Sarah Palin's, who in their right mind would vote for this dude? If he tried to run on the same change message that Barack Obama ran on, people would call Jindal a hypocrite because his beliefs are quite the opposite of any change for the future, just change back to the status quo of Bush. I hope the Repubs run this guy, heck if they do, the Dems might end up winning all 50 states, that's how weak this guy is. He has no chance of winning.

Exactly. The repubs in Illinois tried this crap against Obama, putting up the equal-to-Palin whack job Alan Keyes and Obama won in a landslide. Jindal maybe smart, but he is no Obama.

Oh please, Jindal is nothing. He is yet another gimmick of the GOP, the first one being Palin trying to court female voters, now this guy trying to get the minorities to vote for him because he has d ark skin.

Seriously, let this guy share his views, and he is nothing more than Palin Jr, the same out of touch right wing views, even Bush could b eat this guy. The Republicans need to quit with these gimmicks like Jindal and actually get a candidate worth voting for,

Here's an analogy. Dinesh D'Souza is Indian. Does he "inspire"? Ramesh Ponuuru is Indian. Does he scare you because of his "potential"? Jindal is their bretheren. Right-wing hacks who cater to a small slice of the minority party. Jindal was elected as a reaction to the perception of Blanco's performance during Katrina. Remember ,they butted heads in 02' and she beat him. People voted for Jindal not because he inspired them to, but because they couldn't stand Blanco.

My goodness, this guy irritates me. He's almost worse than Palin, if such a thing is possible, despite all his parent-pleasing educational hullaboo. I think the whole "Bobby" from the Brady Bunch thing just puts him over the edge with me.

I notice Jindal didn't have anything to say about the religious nutcases that are holding the GOP hostage.

That's because he's one of them. He favors the teaching of ID in Louisiana schools.

I know. He is scary as hell. He is not a believer in Separation of Church and State. He is against Stem Cell Reseatch, abortion and you are right a proponent of ID in public schools. He would be a nightmare to have as President. It would be like Bush 2.

What? Something wrong with the GOP?

Look in the mirror Bobby!

The Republican party has become the party of exorcists (Jindal) and those "cured" by exorcists (Palin).

The GOP's problem is its unqualified support for:

bigotry

greed

incompetence

war mongering

willful ignorance

superstition

belligerence

slander

malice

Bobby Jindal's unqualified support for all the above is part of that problem.
