Bobby Jindal

CBS News:

When asked about the future course of the Republican Party following their losses on Election Day - losing not only the White House but also considerable ground in the House and Senate - Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana said it is imperative his party offers solutions to voters, and not just be the opposition.

"As Republicans, we need to do three things to get back on track," he said on CBS' Face The Nation. "Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric.

Kick Obama out, this guy is obviously an intellectual giant without peer to be able to figure out that repubs have something wrong. Maybe he should look at his sycophant support for bush/cheney et al and then go look in the mirror, that would be a step in the right direction.

It is funny. They should let Rush and Hannity head the selection committee.

Frankly, I don't see the GOP ever coming together. In fact, a splinter group will form a third party.

Unless the GOP can cast out the demons of the religious right it is doomed to be a marginal party. Far right wingnuts like Palin, and apparently Jindal, only ensure that the party will be wandering in the wilderness for a long time to come.

Jindal represents a fusion of the science denying anti-evolution religious right with the corporatist global warming "skeptic" wings of the Republican party. The only thing that will keep him from winning their nomination for the next GOP presidential candidate is his ethnicity.

If you don't agree with him, maybe he'll perform an exorcism on you. According to him, he has experience.

Gov. Bobby Jindal is the guy to watch, he is SMART, well liked, highly respected and if were picked as JM's VP things may have been different...

What's wrong with the GOP (among many other things) is its anti-intellectual, anti-science stances. To advocate teaching "intelligent design" in biology class (as Palin and Jindal have advocated) is as stupid as saying alchemy should be taught in chemistry class, or astrology should be taught in astronomy class. Evolution is about geology, astronomy, physics, and the rest of scientific knowledge, not just about biology. Science is all of a piece, derived from the same process of gathering evidence, testing a hypothesis, attempting to refute it, etc. It is a vast cumulative store of proven knowledge built up over hundreds of years that actually works. When is the last time a witch hunter accomplished anything besides harassing innocent people, eh Gov. Palin? How the Repubs think they're going to have a future when they can't even accept the present reality of the 21st century is beyond me.

You left out their same blind faith in economic theories that are no more valid than the others you listed.
