The Hill:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

I agree with other posters that the ab.om.in.at.ion known as Newt should go back to his cave. They even sprung DeLay for a while, for a reprise of *his* ve.no.mo.us comments.
But NG may be right. They tried a token woman and it didn't work, and this is not a forgiving bunch.

With Newt's attempt to marginalize her, Sarah Palin has an opportunity here to make good on her campaign stump claim and actually fight the "good old boy network" of her own party.

Now, I know this is dangerous, but I have to admit: I hope she does. I hope she goes full-on Fatal Attraction on them: "I won't be ingored, Newt....." I want to watch them deal with the monster they created.

I'm keeping fuzzy slippers and popcorn at the ready!

We'll have to actually turn on Fox News to get the front row seats. This might get really good.

I'm not sure if I'm up to it after the way they ate their own during this last election, HOWEVER, I too, at the ready have my fuzzy slippers and popcorn. As far as Palin 'fighting the ole boy network' here like she did in Alaska, whole different ballgame. She would be in the BIG leagues, and I mean that literally as well as figuratively. The number of 'ole boys she had to deal with in 'Laska was far, far, far less than what she'd have to take on in the lower 48. Even, Todd, her lacky who only in his own mind does he think of himself as a "Player", is not up to going toe to toe with this current Rethug party, especially.

Actually, she said she took on the old boys in Alaska but I have a sneaking suspicion she simply took out her hostility on the defenseless moose and wolf cubs.

The thoroughly discredited and morally bankrupt Newtie is now in charge of the Republican Party??? HAH! Since when? Did Fox Noise anoint him? Did Rush Limbaugh officiate?

I'm not sure why people still listen to Newt. He has done absolutly nothing with his political life since leaving congress. But he also keeps acting all coy..
"Maybe I'll run for president in '08!"
"Oh, never mind".
"Perhaps I'll run for RNC head"
"eh, nah"

Seriously there is a saying, either sh*t or get off the pot. Newt is just dicking around and the fact the TM continues to believe he has much say in matters is a joke.

MEMO TO ALL DEMOCRATS

Let's agree to start praising and saying nice things about Sarah Palin.
WE WANT her to be their candidate for Prez in 2012.
C'on gang, we can do it; let's give it the good ol' try.

I know where you are coming from, but I am not yet fully recovered from the idea of having that woman anywhere near a presidential ticket! On Nov. 5th I had a hard time breathing in after my long sigh of relief.

Good plan, we'll have to act really scared of her, and stifle all this laughter that cannot be contained even through the keyboard.

God forbid, if Sarah Palin were to run the GOP, would the newspapers have room to report and print all the mindless drivel coming from her mouth? Instead of $150,000 on clothes, she needed a $3.99 roll of duct tape!

Wow, the buzz about the GOP is almost as good as the reviews for Saw V!

That's the one where all of the decent characters have been killed off and the producers have to resort to giving starring roles to actors who played bit parts in previous sequels.

Famous Presidential candidates since World War II: Bob Barr, Ross Perot, Lyndon LaRouche, Ralph Nader, George Wallace, Harold Stassen, Henry Wallace, Strom Thurmond.. Which of these was nominated by a major national politicial party? Not a one. If the GOP ever nominates Palin, the answer will still be none.

As for her being a major player, let's remember some long term major players from either big party: Jerry Falwell, Al Sharpton, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Cardinal fill-in-a-name prior to, well, you know, and Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Actually, I'm sure La Palin will be happy to add her name to the list. It will get her the attention she craves.

I don't really worry about who the supposed Repuke "leader" is. At least not the one that acts as the public "front" for the actual leaders behind the scenes...like this Newt character. Even he is probably a step or 2 away from the true overlords that prefer to run things from the shadows.

The problem is that Sarah seems to be more popular amongst the fundis, who happen to be the largest voting block of the Republican Party, than most of the older Republicans (like Newt).

Sarah Palin cannot be taken seriously. Just who are her biggest supporters?
The GOP is completely off its rocker to even field this line of thought. The GOP doesn't know who it is anymore, and if this is what passes for debate amongst themselves when the subject of party leadership
arises, I have to think-somewhere in the back of my mind-that the GOP is no longer an intellectually viable
political organization, and may be going out like the dinosaur.
