The Hill:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

Here's how @ssho*e Newt rolls:
"But to be fair, her (Palin's) resume is not something we're familiar seeing with presidential candidates."

Gingrich replied: "It's stronger than Barack Obama's. I don't know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama. She's been a real mayor, he hasn't. She has been a real governor, he hasn't. She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't. She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him, and then she beat a former Dem- ocratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write."

I just shake my head when ever I hear most republicans speak about anything. Someone said, republicans are only interested in winning elections, they have no interest in governing. The republican party has almost no reason to exist. They don't believe in even having a government. If it were up to the Republican party, the government would consist of the pentagon and that's it. So why do they run for congress, judges, governors, mayor, etc? Answer: they love the power. status and using our tax money to enrich themselves and their friends.

Well for starters he beat out all the GOP contestants along with all the democrats who were a thousand times more qualified to be president than any Republican I can think of.

Obama can take it from here.

Palin still doesn't yet have the record of utter ideological failure Newt has. I'm sure Newt feels she, despite being appropriately vapid to qualify as a GOP leader, has a lot to learn.

A lot to learn? You Betcha! She could start with learning the names of major countries vs. continents. Maybe locate Alaska on a map. Familiarize herself with a few Supreme Court decisions.

That should keep her busy for the next ten years.

I thought it was telling the the Rep. Governor's Conference did not elect or appoint her to any committees. What a delicious slap in her face.

After Reagan and Bush......haven't conservatives learned that a lack of intelligence is not a positive characteristic for a President to possess?

I guess their love for Palin would indicate that they still revere ignorance....

The GOP has to walk a fine line now. They don't want to alienate Palin's right wing zealot base, but they must abhor the idea of her on the loose, and unrestrained.

I say as a matter of whats right for the Democratic party, we all should throw our support behind her. What a way to preserve our majority!
