Study: Sunday Talk Shows Dominated By Conservative Guests

In 2006, Media Matters conducted a study on Sunday political talk shows, finding that "Republicans and conservatives have been offered more opportunities to appear on the Sunday shows -- in some cases, dramatically so." From 2001 to 2005, conservative guests outnumbered progressives "by 58 percent to 42 percent." Atrios notes that tomorrow's shows will also be dominated by conservative guests:

Exactly. David Brock's Republican Noise Machine which reminded us that Bill Kristol's father Irving deliberately co-opted Russian communist media tactics for the GOPS, Cons and Neo-Cons. Essentially, he practices yellow templated reductionist journalism replete with a barrage of invective adjectives. It offers no questions, no plans, no policy, no answers, no action. It is simply word without works, dogma without faith, fear without hope and ultimately answers without questions. While Bill Buckley might be summarized as God thinks, therefore I am, Bill Kristol would be better reflected in " I stink, therefore you smell me."

The white house has only fox news stations for their coverage in all their building..
If you go to a dentist , doctor , business office ,, Fox new is on just about all of their waiting rooms.

And that is the beauty of the Internet. I have no need or desire to get up at the ungodly hour of 9am and watch these stupid shows to get my news or develop a sense of someone. I can steer around all the stupid newspapers and cable news shows. The time of TV and radio dominating news flow is quickly passing, if it hasn't already.

So go ahead Mr Kristol, et al -- go on your show and talk to nobody, except that dwindling demographic that still avoids computers.

I think it is getting ridiculous the way they have the elitist on the news telling the American workers what they should think or say...
The only reason Obama won this election was because there were so many votes for Obama , the republicans found it to hard and conspicuous and to delete , purge or transfer his votes to McCain and the pit bull with lipstick...
Just look at the races when they start to count the early and mail in votes, the democrats start picking up votes the more they count them..
This is because they are purging and switching the votes..
Obama must have lost over 1 million votes due to the republican voter fraud.

No doubt.. he won because he utterly overwhelmed them. And, I do think Dems were on their toes and scrutinizing the elections more than ever, so the fraud was less than usual.

I've completely shut off the TV as a "news source", now a complete oxymoron. After 8 solid weeks of Ayers and ACORN lies on all the networks (ha ha, didn't work!! Nahhh!!), I finally decided it was a total waste of my time (what took so long, I now ask..). Print newspapers aren't far behind.

Did you notice a little while after Bush stole the 2000 election they showed a clip of Bush and Cheney in church and Bush had to borrow money from Cheney to put in the collection plate..

Since the President and his administration are Republicans you would expect Sunday talk show guests would have more Republican guests than Democrats. I wouldn’t call 58 to 42 percent “Domination” and expect similar ratios in favor of Democrats when they occupy The White House.

I remember that during the first Bush administration, it was explained that because it is a predominately conservative administration, that conservatives should be able to explain and comment on his policies. When Clinton came along, it was explained that conservatives were needed on the shows to provide balance to the policies of Clinton.
When Bush 2 came around, it was explained that it was once again a conservative administration, conservatives have the right to be on the shows.

So it doesn't matter if it's a Republican or Democrat, or liberal, or conservative, or even if a new party comes along and takes control - Bill Krystol, Fred Barnes, John MacLaughlin and Brit Hume have the God-given right be on Sunday morning.

Again/yet/still an example debunking the myth of a "vast liberal media conspiracy" ??? It would seem counter-intuitive that the so-called "liberal media" would allow Conservative voices to be so predominant. Wouldn't they want to shut them out (so to speak); NOT continually give them a platform to extol their ideas..? Since Conservatives seem to have free reign over the airways, I dismiss this lame reasoning from "the Right". [ie. there is no "vast liberal media conspiracy" against the Conservatives]

I remember reading last year that the main reason that Conservative guests get booked more often than LIberals is that they are more "entertaining". They're NOT more intelligent and do NOT present better ideas -- they are just "better television"..!!!

As a general rule, the Liberal guests tend to be more calm cool and collected; and tend to stick to the facts (again, as a general rule). This does NOT make for exceptional ratings..! IF you put Conservatives on, you'll get "better TV" -- more rants, slurs, and outbursts!
