Ed Hill Leaves

TV Newser has learned that Fox News anchor E.D. Hill is leaving the channel after her contract was not renewed:

TVNewser has learned veteran Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill will not be renewed when her current contract expires. Hill, who has been with Fox News for more than 10 years, will continue with the network for the next few months until her current deal expires.

SVP of Programming Bill Shine tells TVNewser that he "chose not to renew E.D.'s latest contract" but noted that "Hill has been a valued contributor to the success of FNC over the years, and we wish her all the best."

Hill gained notoriety several months ago when she referred to the "pound," "fist bump," or whatever you want to call the handshake that Barack Obama exchanged with his wife Michelle as a "terrorist fist jab."

Thank God they are letting her go. Very unprofessional journalist.

And I suppose Chris Mathews is a Rhodes Scholar? Just to clarify what a Rhodes Scholar is not, This is not someone that stands out on the road and holds up a sign. Just wanted to make sure the left is not confused.

Listen up AR, the republican brand is badly damaged, the repubs are in serious need of new leadership. Young, charismatic and very smart leadership. From the looks of it I do not think you will make the cut. Your thought process is non-existent, that signals a lack of smarts. Judging from your posts, I can determine that ugly people have ugly ways.Just crawl back into that space of yours while we try to fix this huge mess you all left us.

What does Chris Matthews have to do with E.D. Hill being "let go" by Fox. Typical right wing response, . . . wave your hands, point at someone else, talk about something "off subject" to confuse the issue. Fox is SO OVER, thanks to the E.D. Hills they have had on the payroll for years.

Chris Mathews is as Republican as you are, AR.
Also just about as mentally lazy.

This always was a nation "under God" but now that the ACLU is using their high priced lawyers
to fight anything with God's name on it, this country seems to be going the wrong way.

Look at the condition America is in. We used to be a proud country....now we look like
a puppy with it's tail between it's legs. Wall ST. the Banks, the Industrial base is gone.....

When the ACLU brings a lawsuit against someone (school or otherwise), they force the other
party to pay for their high legal costs.... So, it is easier to give in then to pay their big bucks.

So, side with the side that tries to follow the reason that America started where it did,
and you might just be unhappy where it ends.

We give in to a small minority of people who want to change our American Way and we are
losing our way in the meantime. So, children who want to say the pledge must go to another
area and the others (who are probably 2 or 3) stay in the classroom.
Why do they want to be American citizens.

It's not my American way. And it wasn't the American way of the founders either. If you want a country where religion runs the show, go to Iran!

I agree - my worship of the Sun God should be promoted at my children's schools. After all, it's the only religion that took place on various continents and various non-connected cultures over thousands of years.

Let's bring back human sacrifices to guarantee the Sun God's return across the sky . . . . we can use the Young Republican Party Membership list to draw from . . . it's the least they could do for their country, figure they'd want to volunteer as Patriots in as they joined our military in record numbers to "fight them over there and not here" . . . .

Well, 'berry...', you've caught my attention. Though I usually don't respond in a petty fashion, you've found me in a sufficiently pi$$y mood that I choose to give in to my lesser angels.

> Your post is irrelevant to the original article (i.e., the sacking of E.D. Hill). You want to be taken seriously, tie your comments to the topic at hand. Stream-of-consciousness is so...well, psychological. And boring, when stemming from a mediocre consciousness.

> Let's jump to your fourth paragraph, which I cite here in its entirety for my own amusement: "So, side with the side that tries to follow the reason that America started where it did,
and you might just be unhappy where it ends." Nothing I can add to that; it's a complete thing, the thing that it is, which began where it did, unhappily, I fear. Also. (With props from both of us to Sarah P.).

> For clarity's sake, you know that ACLU is not a word, right? I mean, it's not pronounced ak-loo. ACLU stands for something; you catch the double implication, here? The key part of 'akloo' -- sorry, ACLU -- is Civil Liberties. CIVIL LIBERTIES.

Edith grew up across the street from my husband. I can't recall how many times she's been married...I am thinking three and has oodles of kids...a yours mine and ours situation I am sure. And if memory serves me she was pregnant every time she got married. I love these news women who talk about their kids as if they are raising them when you know they are being raised by nannies. She has the habit of marrying into really wealthy families. Isn't that the Republican way???? What is it with Fox and their "family values?"
And she is truly as horrible in real life as she is on the air.

Thanks "msmaggie" for the correction of ' Under GOD " being added by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. I was in grade school during that era and struggled to remember to add those words to the pledge as did the rest of my elementary school mates, thanks again.

AR . . . your posts are mostly luke warm Freeperville drivel and I keep waiting for a REAL post that has a position or concept based on anything that would contribute to either:
1. Engage Intellectual discourse
2. Explanation of Republican values as related to making AMERICA stronger
3. Defensible excuse for the Bush led destruction of civil and environmental issues
4. Fact based argument supporting the Bush economic policies that have bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.
. . . . or maybe just find another place to display elementary school pseudo-Republican intellectualism . . . .

E.D. Hill is an idiot far beyond her terrorist comment. Yesterday she was attacking some guy from the ACLU about the pledge of allegience. Her position: That little children should be forced to recite a pledge with the words "under God" in it because "America was founded on Christianity" . Why is Hill stupid? Well because those words were ADDED to the pledge in 1940 by right wing religious crazies and not part of its original neutral and patriotic content. In addition, America was founded by just as many agnostics, atheists, and people of little or no religiious afilliation as it was by Christians. To say otherwise is an outright fairy tale.

Unless you have some specific agenda to push, you know like pushing people into ovens at gunpoint, why would you insist on making children say anything like that if it would conflict with their personal beliefs? If you were truly neutral and a real American patriot you would start each school day with the following... Children would be asked to stand out of respect for their country and if they WISHED they could recite the pledge WITHOUT the words "under God" in it. After the pledge you could have 1 minute of silence. The children can use that time to be quiet and pray as they wish or simply reflect on their great nation if they wish not to pray. That would be fair and I dont see any fair or rational person objecting to that solution.

Under God was added in the 50s at the behest of Eisenhower, he was lobbied by various religious groups, specifically the Knights of Columbus, hardly right wing crazies. Beyond that agree w you.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:39 PM on 11/19/2008

I think the religion-neutral pledge of allegiance is a great way for kids to reflect on our many freedoms in America. Another idea is that after the pledge a different student each day can name their favorite freedom. As to praying, they can do that at home or in church.
