The Daily Beast:

Three months after he admitted to an affair and went into hiding, John Edwards is making a public comeback. His former aides aren't exactly thrilled.

As John Edwards attempts one of the more awkward comebacks in recent political history, his former aides told The Daily Beast that they would rather see their former boss remain in exile.

"I think it would behoove Senator Edwards to continue staying out of the limelight for a longer period of time and let the country move on," said one former campaign aide.

It seems Edwards was a quite bit preoccupied with other things, despite his claims of "working for the poor". We need someone who can give their all!

The guy's a liar and a cheat . He put the Dem presidency at risk , with ful knowledge of the consequences. to our country and the world. I wouldn't trust him with any kind of serious responsibility ever.

from one of his previous fans and contributors .

I was and am a John Edwards supporter. John Edwards gave us all quite a bit during the campaign. For example, his and Elizabeth's plan for universal health care:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWbXNUbUj0A&feature=related

I remember his July 2007 Coopers Union speech where you tried, oh so gently, to prepare us for what has happened, the collapse of our nation's financial institutions.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJlKE_BLAUM

http://www.johnedwards.com/news/speeches/20070621-reduce-debt

I remember his many trips down to New Orleans to shine a spotlight
on those in need: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DaofQCkbA8

But, you say he's been holding out on us, he hasn't given his all.
Well, I want to see the rest of what John Edwards has to give.

I'm just upset that John Edwards knew this would come out and that he was never a viable candidate for the office of POTUS but he took and kept my campaign donation. Now knowing of this affair I only wish I had been able to use those funds to help in other campaigns.

When Bill Clinton was running for President, Gennifer Flowers "came up",
and Bill admitted he had caused "pain in his marriage".
Hillarey stood by Bill, and he was elected President of the United States.
Maybe, you weren't born then.

Flowers had been in his past - it seems Edwards may have conceived a child on the campaign trail!

Just imagine if he had been our candidate. we'd be looking at possibly another eight years. Personally I don't think the world could take it.

Look, if Bill Clinton could be forgiven by America, dammit John can be too. I hate what he did but you know what, it is what it is. Leave the man alone.

Life does not stop after mistakes, even big ones, If Clinton can stay viable to the world after his fall from grace, so can Edwards. I believe he should move forth in any direction he wants and put the past behind him. The press will give him hell at first and that they should, but edwards can make it through this storm and be a big part these make it or break it times.

Clinton stuck by his family in the end and didn't possibly conceive a child on the campaign trail. I'm not sure John Edwards is going to stand by his family. In the end he may give up his kids with Elizabeth for RH and her child. That may be for the best if he harbors delusions of marrying this woman. Cate will do a better job of raising her sister and brother. I know ,I know I can't prove this. It's just a feeling. As much as I believed in John and Elizabeth, my gut told me this was true when it first came out. I took a beating for it.,I was sad about it, but it had the feeling of truth.

I read this on a blog, maybe here. Remarkable men choose to have affairs with unremarkable women. The response was, because remarkable women don't have affairs with unremarkable men. That says a lot about the men we read about who have had affairs, not just JE.

Every time I'd see John Edwards in the primaries, with his good looks, soft Southern drawl and enough charisma to charm the birds out of the trees, I'd think to myself, I bet he's got lots of girlfriends. Or at least one girlfriend. A man like him has women throwing themselves at him every day, all day long. It was only a matter of time before he began cheating on his wife. I think he's been cheating on Elizabeth for a very long time. Only this time, he got caught.

if he can find a way to help poor and working class people i'm all for it.

how many of you, my fellow democrats and progressives, are startng to sound like dobson and falwell and bible humpers? human beings make mistakes, some more than others, we get disappointed, that's life. if we accept reality, forgive people, allow them to help society, move on, we are all better for it.

I am glad that Edwards is building houses in New Orleans! SOMEONE has to!
Now that I've weighed in on that one-here's the deal. Edwards was the ONLY candidate-whether for Vice President or in the Primaries-to bring the question of poverty to the fore. Obama pretty much 'borrowed' that theme for his 'help for the Middle Class' part of the platform. Obama's thoughts on poverty run toward the 'working poor' (and THAT group is growing by leaps and bounds lately). The idea behind helping the 'middle class' or 'working poor' is that it WOULD be helping the poorest people in America by putting them under an umbrella that WOULD shelter them, as opposed to the small and out of reach 'umbrella' of trickle down economics. There's a LOT of Edwards in Obama's plan really. Nope! Can't see Edwards in the Administration. It's a 'Team of Rivals', not a "Team of Potential Liabilities'. Johnny messed UP BIG TIME. Sorry! But thinking about his possible candidacy being blown up by the revelation of his affair would have GUARANTEED a McCain? You know who win!
It wouldn't even have been CLOSE!!

Edwards was the only one to bring the historical Democratic concern for the poor to the race. I think he meant it too... that is, if he meant anything. What a scandal. What an exhibit. Tsk.

You are kidding, right?! This man had an affair on his wife, but what has made it worse is that she has cancer and is fighting for her life. How devoid of values and morals does someone have to be to do something like that?! People put their trust into those they elect; Edwards broke that trust. Of course people are going to be angry, but even more so because of his wife's situation.

Americans need to hold elected officials accountable for their actions and not reward them with a "pass" because it was just an "affair". This is unacceptable behavior. Reviving a public life where he is trying to influence and preach to others about a specific cause rings a little hollow. He's welcome to return to private life where maybe he can focus on getting his life together.

yes he did a bad thing.
So did McCain, who left his model wife and kids after she got injured and gained weight. He went to find the next young hot model - Cindy.

McCain also needs to be told to hide. No one wants to see his cheatin' face either!

Obama followed everything that Edwards lead on, only Edwards was better at details, Obama
was better at BS, and fooling a lot of people. Hope he doesn't fail, after Bush this would be
too much.

For someone to think they can stump around the country in two elections as a devoted husband and family man and then appear on the stage three months after being caught in an affair and believe it to be rosy with the citizens of the country -- he's sadly mistaken. He was not forthcoming about the affair -- He got caught. That's what p.o'd him. He, his wife, along with their children -- stumped around asking for our trust and faith in him. Many were willing to give it at that time. Then he got caught -- with his hand in the cookie jar!! He's never came clean about the affair and what may be his child. He will never, ever gain the trust of the citizens. For him to be so arrogant to appear at a speech where pre-approved questions only accepted -- means he's still just a P.O.'d man that got caught. Not sorry for what he did. If he apologized not -- it's empty words.

Like others have said and his former aides -- go away. As far as IMO many citizens think -- forever. We don't need a person involved in making decisions for our lives when he can't comprehend and acknowledge truthfully his own. There is not a chance of him being in the Obama administration. Obama would be bombarded with letters, calls, whatever, if he even gave it a thought. This would be one of those things that Obama has asked about in the
