Focus On The Family Faces Massive Layoffs After Prop 8 Push

Focus on the Family is poised to announce major layoffs to its Colorado Springs-based ministry and media empire today. The cutbacks come just weeks after the group pumped more than half a million dollars into the successful effort to pass a gay-marriage ban in California.

Critics are holding up the layoffs, which come just two months after the organization's last round of dismissals, as a sad commentary on the true priorities of ministry.

This emphasizes the irony of the people's 'initiative' in California: corporations, selling products or religion, paying out millions of dollars to sway the popular vote by advertising - most of it does not express and opinion, but attack, with fabrications and falsehoods, the opinion of their adversaries.

Free speech cannot belong to a corporation, and a corporation is not an individual. Let us see how much money individuals, bent on sneaking into bedrooms and watching other people's habits, would be ready to pony up from their own accumulated wealth to attack others and force their social views on a whole state!

They spent 1/2 a million dollars to oppress a group of people and force their narrow-minded, archaic beliefs down everyone's throat. The discriminatory Prop 8 was managed by a guy named Schubert. Hired by the Mormons.
Schubert has a P.R. firm with offices in Orange County & Sacramento.

They have been on the side of big business, anti-union, conservative Republican, anti-consumer initiatives. In New Jersey, Oregon & California.
It was Schubert's P.R. group, Schubert Flint Public Affairs with offices in Sacramento & Orange County that lied their way to victory on this one, folks. He is STILL the front man for this in TV and print interviews. They made a TRUCKLOAD of money on this.

Their tack is to control public opinion for their client by molding & shaping public opinion..
That is done by having "operatives" write letters to the editors of hundreds of newspapers, getting those newspapers to editorialize on their client's behalf, and to manufacture commercials that seem homey
& quaint & protective of 'plain Americans'. All the time lying without compunction. They use sponsorship names that sound like grassroots organizations but are anything but.

They have been extremely successful. They are extremely dangerous.

We need to start a P.R. offensive of our own.
