Colorado Independent:

Focus on the Family is poised to announce major layoffs to its Colorado Springs-based ministry and media empire today. The cutbacks come just weeks after the group pumped more than half a million dollars into the successful effort to pass a gay-marriage ban in California.

Critics are holding up the layoffs, which come just two months after the organization's last round of dismissals, as a sad commentary on the true priorities of ministry.

This is like a Road Runner-Wile E. Coyote cartoon (except that they succeeded in banning gay marriage).

They succeeded in nothing, cuz the law will be challenged in court and struck down as unconstitutional. This whole thing was a complete and total waste of time, money and energy to accomplish ZERO.

Yeah, it's going to go right back up to the panel of Judges that affirmed the rights of gays to get married in the first place.

And even if for some reason the Amendment isn't struck down. It will not be permanent. Every year more and more people actually meet and get to know real gay people, and this results in more and more people supporting Equal Rights.

Same-sex marriage will return to California. I have no doubt at all.

Ah, pity. Some of these Focus on The Family scumbags are going to lose their livelyhood. Cheer up, it's not like losing your marriage rights.

i was sitting on the porch eating a snickers bar last night around 10:30, and i heard God's voice.

He told me that a mighty IRS man was going to come and take away the tax exemption status of focus on the family and LDS / Mormon, inc.

then Jesus showed up and we went out for drinks at the Cha Cha Cha Lounge.

And you never called me on my cell! I've looked forward to meeting Him forever. I'm patient. Next time, ... I'll drive.

There needs to be a ruling in the supreme court regarding separation of church and state that mandates that any Church that becomes involved in the funding of any voting measure, loses their tax-exemption status immediately.

I like to see how many would jump on the band wagon then.

Wouldn't that picture of James (child abuser) Dobson look much better if his teeth were bashed inwards and his nose were broken sideways. That would look pretty darn satisfying.

A little biblical passage for "doctor" dobson:

John 15:1-6

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned."

---------------------

Just sounds like dobson's "chickens are coming home to roost". Since he and his ministry have decided to focus less on Christ and more on their own hatreds, it makes sense that God is letting their ministry die.

Matthew 7
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

How well does a $549,000 political contribution from Focus on The Family play out regarding the separation of church and state?

States should pay close attention to what these guys did. They want states rights, but then they came from other states to overwhelm California's elections with tons of religious money.
How dusgusting is it that ONE church - the mormons - spent $20M on this!!!
Sc.re. w the starving, and Godwill have to get over it, right?

I would think there are so many job opportunities for people who can make phone calls and spread rumors, scare tactics, and hate. It has become clear that there is a need to remove tax exempt status for many churches that have entered the political arena. Since they already have blurred the line between church and state they could be just the attack dogs needed.

Ezekiel 16:49 - 50

Behold,

this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom,

pride,

fullness of bread,

and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters,

neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me:

therefore I took them away as I saw good.

Matthew 7:

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
