Heather Locklear Charged With DUI Of Drugs

LOS ANGELES — Prosecutors in Santa Barbara have charged Heather Locklear with misdemeanor driving under the influence, citing prescription drugs.

The California Highway Patrol said the actress showed "obvious impairment" when an officer noticed her car parked on a highway and blocking a lane in Montecito in September, but that alcohol was ruled out. She was tested for drugs at a police station and released.

Locklear, whose TV credits include "Dynasty" and "Melrose Place," divorced from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora last year and sought treatment for anxiety and depression in June.

Locklear is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 26. Her attorney, Blair Berk, had no comment when reached via e-mail Monday.

I really like Heather Locklear, and though I rarely feel sorry for any celebrity, I somehow feel bad for her. I wish her all of the best, she needs to refocus and get back to doing what she does best-entertaining us. She is one of my favorite actresses, going back to her Sammy Jo days of Dynasty. Aging is mentally hard on all women, but especially famous ones. I would have thought that she would have handled it better, she always seemed so grounded and down to earth, but sometimes when life throws you lemons you can't remember your recipe for lemonade. Please Heather, for Ava's sake and your own, get the help that you need if you are still having those problems. I am a fan who wishes you well and nothing but the best for your future.

Gotta feel bad for her! She does have a substance issue. She also seems to have an issue with picking the wrong kind of guys to marry. I've heard that can be a bad type of addiction also. It's like some women keep picking guys that beat them. Different guys but same results. Kinda weird behavior may be due to addiction. The good girl image probably isn't as true as we'd like it to be if you judge her by the company she keeps. And that's all we have to judge any celeb by. She seems hooked on rockers. Good for publicity, bad for the brain, the body and the raising of family in most cases. History seems to verify that. I wonder if she has some sort of chronic pain issue? Could be due to a medical condition we have no knowledge of. Then again she could be just another really dumb actress that Hollywood execs were able to keep under wraps for only so long.

Whereas I understand that we as regular folks laugh at celebrities who get into embarrassing situations, I want to know if we can ever reach the point where we focus on celebrities who live sedate lives. You never hear about Glenn Close doing these sorts of things. And it's not a legitimate answer to say "It's only cool when celebrities trash themselves­." I wouldn't mind hearing about people who played supporting roles on TV shows from many years ago and never did much afterwards (there are plenty who don't live embarrassing lives).

It is always sad to see someone have to struggle with an addiction.
I hope she is able to get clean and renew her life again. I think she has a lot of talent and I have enjoyed watching her in the past. Get well soon!

There are plenty of anxiety and even some depression drugs that people could get addicted to and for more reasons that just because of the need for the drug.
Whatever the reason, she is struggling and certainly, unless you have walked in her shoes, you ought to just stop criticizing.

It really annoys people that some stars could possibly be clean, and happen to be distraught at being hounded say, by that phony onlooker and Denise Richards friend. Most women whose marriage crumble, who try to keep it together for their kids while holding down a job with less scrutiny involved have worse moments. They don't all end up addicts. Chin up HL!
