Vanity Fair:

Sarah Palin's stylists sure had to work hard to drop $150,000 on dressing the former Republican V.P. candidate. Vanity Fair's fashion department took Sarah's budget and came up with a dream wardrobe that would fit the bill. (They threw in her husband Todd's $40,000 budget, too, just for good measure.) Even if Sarah was outfitted with a Valentino dress, an ostrich weekend bag and a croc handbag, a Patek Philippe watch, and an Hermès silk scarf, there would still be about $100,000 left over. And what about Todd's spending spree? That's equivalent to nearly six Ralph Lauren Purple Label suits. See, no matter how you slice it, it's not all that easy to spend that kind of cash!

I hope this is a joke, right? It cost so much yet she still looked so cheap.

I think this is a more telling commentary on the outrageousness and superficiality of this society that people would actually, for instance, buy a bra for $580. Meanwhile our streets are filled with homeless starving people. I would hope at least the people who can afford these things are charitable with their pocketbooks. But still. Please. Spend $50-80 on a bra and do something wiser with the change.

Ditto on that thought! It was wonderful to check out HuffPo today and not
see SP all over the pages. Just this one and hopefully, it's the last one!

Egad! That 22 grand watch could have been replaced by a Chinese made egg-timer for 99 cents. All she needed was to set it for a 15 minute countdown.

These two piggies in the trough can't get enough of the good stuff when someone handed over the credit card.

So it is true: "you can put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig". Here is one pig that sure loves her lipsticks.

Again - I don't care ... but looking at this list, it certainly speaks to the hypocrisy of the repugnicans. While they were out there trying to pretend to connect to "hockey moms" and working class "Joe Sixpack" and "Joe the Plumber" - the value of their clothes (and don't forget Mc Insane's pricey loafers) represent someone's mortgage! They should ashamed and they deserved the thumping they got on Nov. 4th!!!

She shops at consignment shops because she likes designer clothes but can't or won't pay full price for them. So her eyes must have practically jumped out of head when she saw the Chanel suit.

Please, please, please --- no more stories about this half-baked Alaskan!!! We don't care what she spent it on because we don't care about her! (The real issue should've been how was she ALLOWED to spend so much - but, alas, we really don't care to hear any more on this non-topic!)

If we could only have a list of the Hilary's expenses on New York State's Tap. Give us a break, focus on policy, not clothing. Trashing Palin shows democrats lack of creative ideas.

The Democrats haven't trashed Palin. Palin trashed the American people.

Gifts.
"lack of ideas? The obvious IDEA is the degree of hypocracy and corruption of the political system where effort is made to fool the public. The ISSUE now is, did the corrupt Sarah return ALL THE CLOTHES? And if she did, I want to see the evidence because I don't trust them. ISSUE NO.2, where are the clothes now? Want to see the proof.

Um, it's been disclosed already that Hilary pays for her own clothing. It's relevant because we're dealing with trying to create oversight on companies like AIG who are taking bailouts while spending on outrageous junkets. It goes to credibility & trust. Sarah Palin took advantage of her position to spend obscene amounts of money on clothing--obscene. She talks about personal responsibility with respect to the financial meltdown, this from a woman who bought a Vuitton bag for her 8 year old. She cannot be trusted. She makes Bush look thoughtful.

Since Sarah Palin knew that she had to return the clothing when the campaign was over, and since she had to know that the last day of the campaign was on November 4, shouldn't she have asked her aides to pack up everything that was purchased for her and leave it in Phoenix for the RNC to pick up to be donated? That wouldn't have been difficult. Then there would be no need for aides to be madly sorting all the things she packed to take back to Alaska to "find" those that weren't hers.

Or might it just be that she planned all along to bring the goodies home and see what she would be able to keep??

My thought was that she would take the ones she really wanted to a charity in Alaska, make the donation, then buy them back at the deeply discounted prices (or have someone do it for her). That way she would have obeyed the letter of the law. Not ethical, of course, but certainly legal!!

typical appeal to the stupid comment. The women obviously has managed more than Obama, like a State. The media has the ability to pass rumors on as fact. I think the Atlas B.S. was already confronted by Palin herself.

Have you look at the Justice Department in the State of IL and Obama's impact on policy on the local level in his own State. I have and foster care is a clear indication of his human rights record and approach. Often people's own back yards give great road maps of what they truly believe in. It might be a good idea to discuss facts and policies rather than divert to material goods a person purchases.

If Sarah Palin had purchased the items with her own money, then it would not have been an issue. However, her extravagantly expensive clothes were purchased with campaign money - which include private donations and public campaign financing. To use campaign funds for personal use, i.e. the extravagant expensive clothes is a violation of the law. That is why so many people are angry about this abuse and deception. The $150,000 was spent over a short period of time, which makes it even more aggregious. In some parts of the country, $150,000 can buy a house......or even two or three houses. Therefore, this is not a small issue that should be overlooked or forgotten.

Typical, stupid rethug reponse. U.S. senators actually outrank governors, dummy. Governors only run a state. Senators help run the country. Unlike governors, senators get to make POLICIES for the WHOLE country, that includes ALASKA! U.S. senators get to make decisions about domestic and international affairs. They get to head foreign relations commitees, (and other major commitees) as well as regulary meeting with world leaders. And Palin is only the governor of remote Alaska. Not much going on there!

Senators have to make much tougher decisions than governors, such as wheather or not to go to WAR! And who cares what you think? Your stinking, loser,
'Mooseketeer' lost! Get over it! Pretty soon, Barack Obama will be President of the United States! Yup, he'll being running the COUNTRY, and he'll be the leader of the free world!
