Palin Book Deal Said To Be Worth $7 Million

She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator's controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama's election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists - and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush's administration - Palin's personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

"She's poised to make a ton of money," said Howard Rubenstein, New York's best-known public relations adviser.

Oh my, I hope she doesn't get all big-headed and start to think, "Well, if Obama can write his own biography, I can write my own..." -- I'm sure she could manage some basic subject-verb agreement, but the random acts of excess clauses alone would do my head in. And she'd have to set the word "betcha" in her Word dictionary, so that it didn't keep popping up as a misspelt word.

Oh, and her poor copy editor.... Uh! that soul should definitely contract to get paid double!

It is going to be a colorforms book. It will come with all these outfits from Neiman Marcus and Saks and you can stick them to the Wasilla figures inside. Dead wolves, shot guns and rape kits all sold seperately.

The book will be called "How to spend 150k plus on clothing and still have wingnuts believe you are a Wal-Mart mom"!

Good grief! All I can say is I pity the poor editor who gets saddled with this too-confident-for-her-own-good dimwit. Come to think of it, I also feel sorry for the editor's assistant and fact-checker. Between the three of them, they will be run off their feet trying to grapple with mangled syntax; find synonyms for "gotcha", "you betcha", "gosh darn it", "say it ain't so Joe", etc.; look for all the missing "g's" in word endings; and, last but not least, determine what is fact and what is fiction. This is a woman who's only apology (at least that I know of) has been "If I caused John McCain to lose one vote, I am sorry". One. Vote. She is, to put it mildly, seriously delusional.

There's an obvious need for a ghostwriter for whom English is a second language. The possibility of a book without "g's" astonishes me, you betcha. Maybe a 25-letter alphabet is a money-saving plan of the publisher so they can pay an illiterate to chronicle her complaints against the very party in which she has pretensions for leadership in 2012. The plot goes something like this: "it's all about me" (and my "running mate") + everything I said was taken out of context (even when it came out of my mouth) + I'm going to return those clothes one day (but Todd doesn't want to give up his silk boxers).

Bottom line to Publishers: don't pay any advance for this book. It won't be worth reading, except by Palin's skinhead supporters who can't read anyway. END OF STORY.
