Hannity Concerts

So, it's come to my attention that Sean Hannity is sponsoring a series of "Freedom Concerts," tickets for which would make "perfect Christmas gifts," apparently, for everyone on your Christmas list of whom you have a low opinion. Billy Ray Cyrus will headline these events, and will be supported by country music legends The Charlie Daniels Band, Christian-contemporary performer Michael W. Smith, sun-ripened beef jerky husk Lee Greenwood, and Oliver North, who will, I guess, be playing a Moog accompaniment to "the Whitey tape." The concerts are in support of...freedom? I guess? Though probably the "supplies are limited some restrictions apply void where prohibited (cf. Prop 8 for further details)" brand of "freedom."

Naturally, one wonders about whether Billy Ray Cyrus' decision to join up on this tour might negatively impact the career of daughter Miley Cyrus, who's more positioned as a global brand, and who produces spastic and apolitical pop marm. Might Billy Ray's actions alienate a significant portion of Miley's fanbase? The answer is: probably not! After all, Miley's tween audience probably couldn't care less about Sean Hannity, and their parents, who may care, have basically established themselves as ineffectual money-fonts who live to get pushed around by their children anyway -- hence the existence of Miley Cyrus.

Anyway, based upon the sorts of people Hannity pals around with, we can all be thankful that, at the very least, Prussian Blue won't be opening.

Some lineup, Hannity. Why not get Chuck Norris and Sarah Palin to co-host? Then, you'll have all the losers in one place that we can avoid.

Repugs were beaten handily while waging that old unilateral Culture War. And what do they do, in response? *More* Culture War! LOL

Let's get real, and talk about the economics of touring. How in the hell will Hannity even manage to keep this operation solvent?? Who's beating down doors in a bad economy to pay money to see...The Charlie Daniels Band?? Someone needs to start up a pool on how many (if any) of these Freedom Tour shows actually are mounted, before the whole thing's called off!

You can bet they won't be using any legitimate concert venues that have unions protecting against paying minimum wage.

"...and their parents, who may care, have basically established themselves as ineffectual money-fonts who live to get pushed around by their children anyway -- hence the existence of Miley Cyrus."

That's bs, Jason. My parents didn't dig Adam Ant but they ponied up the money and took me to the concert when I was 12. Parents allow kids to have the freedom to choose what they like, and Miley Cyrus is pretty vanilla stuff. I don't know that it's fair to go after a teenager because her dad's a fool. I guess you could boycott "Hannah Montana" unless Billy Ray is forced off of the show.

How can Bill Ray invite Sasha and Malia on his show and then do a show with Obama's biggest critic.

Why Sasha and Malia Obama Shouldn't Go on Hannah Montana

A "freedom concert" is what Hannity is calling it?

I think he probably wanted to call it "I love America more than anyone else concert".

Throughout the past few decades, TV has produced no shortage of bubble gum artists aimed at tweens in the hopes of vacuuming the cash out of their parents pockets (Partridge Family, etc.) But never has the form sunk as low to the likes of shows such Hannah Montana who, thanks to to "family friendly" Disney channel runs this tripe 24/7. Your kids can now be marketed to at 2:30 am. And, if you watch these shows carefully, unlike the shows of the past which possessed some semblance of responsiblility by presenting kids as what they are, just "kids" (in the Partridge Family it was the mother who called the shots)...these shows present kids as running things and, often, the adults are MIA or presented as doddering dolts. The Disney Co. has morphed into an abomination. They not allowed in my home save for some classic movies.

When my astoundingly passionate 11 year old daughter finds out, she will ask me, "Who is hannity?" I will give her a few links and it will be all over. She will no longer watch nor buy Miley's stuff. I can [almost] guarantee it.

She told me the last week that some kid in her class was whining [by parroting his parents, I assume] about how Obama is going to take all their money. She said, "What are you complaining about, you obviously make over $250 thousand a year - you're richer than the rest of us!" The boy was stopped cold.

Seems to me she's got more going on than half the Dem Senators!

That child makes me beam with pride, naomjunior....
