Chuck Norris

Huckabee-supporting martial artist Chuck Norris has written his latest column for townhall.com on the passage of Prop 8 in California, calling demonstrations in its wake "anarchy." The article, entitled "If Democracy Doesn't Work, Try Anarchy," ends with the following:

The truth is that the great majority of Prop. 8 advocates are not bigots or hatemongers. They are American citizens who are following 5,000 years of human history and the belief of every major people and religion: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Their pro-Prop. 8 votes weren't intended to deprive any group of its rights; they were safeguarding their honest convictions regarding the boundaries of marriage.

On Nov. 4, the pro-gay community obviously was flabbergasted that a state that generally leans left actually voted right when it came to holy matrimony. But that's exactly what happened; the majority of Californians -- red, yellow, black and white -- voted to define the margins of marriage as being between one man and one woman. California is the 30th state in our union to amend its constitution in doing so, joining Florida and Arizona in this election. Like it or not, it's the law now. The people have spoken.

Impressive, Chuck Norris's limited knowledge of the law is only rivaled by his limited knowledge of history. Claiming that marriage as we know it today is 5000 years old would be a heck of an endorsement if it weren't completely wrong. But then Chuck has never let facts stand in the way of his opinions before, why would he start now.

What Chucky's trying to say (in his own way) is "I'm afraid to come out of the closet!!"

I'm always amazed how people who jump so quickly to defend the second amendment always forget the first...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

They are citizens and pay taxes, the constitution covers them as well. This is an old fight and by now should have a supreme court finding that they have a right to a civil ceremony of marriage. Looks like the repugs plan on hanging their comeback with this dividing issue. Some idiots never learn.

Chuck, such a half-way guy you are. Bible says you must kill adulterers. Bible says you must kill disobedient children. Let's go, Chuck, let's start standing up for morality in the true Biblical way. YWHW says kill, kill, kill. Get busy.

Good to hear from a Constitutional expert. He got his degree from the school of hard kicks!

Hey Chuckles, sometimes propositions violate the Constitution, and sometimes the Supreme Court MUST step in and evaluate, and occasionally invalidate, the results. To make an extreme example, and this seems appropriate since you are an extremist, what if a proposition called for murder to be made legal? Would it be anarchy to challenge it after it had been voted into "law". Sometimes majority rule is NOT the Constitutional solution...and I don't know if you've noticed, but the Constitutional isn't about anarchy, it's about the rule of law, something that Republican extremists know nothing about.

And if you want to protect the "sanctity" of marriage, how bout making divorce illegal, and, as in the case of Prop 8, making 2nd marriages null and void? Ooops...can't do that because YOU are a divorcee! Divorce is a far more significant "threat" to marriage than allowing gay people the right to marry. So...if there's a proposition calling for making divorce illegal, and thus, any 2nd marriages would be annulled, would it be anarchy to challenge that?

Focus on your OWN damn family, Chuck. Fifty years ago you would have been frothing against black/white marriage. Troglodyte.

I can see a come-back movie for Chucks - he is hired by the LDS in Salt Lake City to take out a Fundarmentalist LDS compound where Traditional LDS Plural Marriages are still performed.

But he falls for the compound leader's Wife#3a's twin sisters... and decides that maybe their idea of what is a Traditional Marriage is not so bad after all....

Then Tom Selleck arrives to rescue the aging and botoxed Chuck from a honeymoon that has the potential to give him a cardiac arrest....

if people don't agree with Chuck, he'll karate chop them and throw them in the back of his pick up, never to be seen again ... sounds ridiculous doesn't ... almost as ridiculous as his remarks.

The bottom line to this issue, is these are people, American citizens, who have the same rights under the law of the land for the pursuit of happiness.

Get off it Chuck, get off of it Tony (Perkins), you insult our intelligence trying to say that this is not about civili rights or religion, thats precisely what it is. There is religious intrusion and a hypocrisy by all of those who oppose same sex marriage.

Sad but true!
