Chuck Norris

Huckabee-supporting martial artist Chuck Norris has written his latest column for townhall.com on the passage of Prop 8 in California, calling demonstrations in its wake "anarchy." The article, entitled "If Democracy Doesn't Work, Try Anarchy," ends with the following:

The truth is that the great majority of Prop. 8 advocates are not bigots or hatemongers. They are American citizens who are following 5,000 years of human history and the belief of every major people and religion: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Their pro-Prop. 8 votes weren't intended to deprive any group of its rights; they were safeguarding their honest convictions regarding the boundaries of marriage.

On Nov. 4, the pro-gay community obviously was flabbergasted that a state that generally leans left actually voted right when it came to holy matrimony. But that's exactly what happened; the majority of Californians -- red, yellow, black and white -- voted to define the margins of marriage as being between one man and one woman. California is the 30th state in our union to amend its constitution in doing so, joining Florida and Arizona in this election. Like it or not, it's the law now. The people have spoken.

Could he be a closet gay? He seems to protest an awful lot.

Ever heard the old saying "he who screams the loudest has the most to hide"?

First of all, who cares about Chuck anyway. Why would straight people want to have a monopoly on marriage anyway. Equal opportunity here right!!! Equal opportunity to be happy with someone or not. Let is hard enough as it is. Why not send it with the one you want. They should make divorce illigal and it should also have a prison term to go a long with it if say, you cheated, etc...
And further more, I dont see how this would affect there marriage anyway.

He said "holy matrimony"....doesn't he get that religion is not supposed to involve itself in government? We aren't demanding that churches recognize gay marriage, we are demanding that the government recognize the equal rights of all people...and that has nothing to do with religion.

"we are demanding that the government recognize the equal rights of all people...and that has nothing to do with religion."

And equal rights have nothing to do with 'marriage'. Same-sex couples can get benefits hetero-couples do as far as hospital visitation, monetary issues, etc.... through legal agreements or civil unions. Those that are clamoring about 'tolerance' have none themselves when it comes to other people's moral convictions about the term 'marriage' - and those convictions are well founded over hundreds of years of civilization.

Even the left's Savior, President Elect Obama, does not want same-sex marriage. Instead of these protesters harrassing and threatening some poor business-woman ( who actually employs gays on her workstaff ) who made a $100.00 donation for Prop 8, or trash some poor old woman's Christian cross as she tries to have her own display of her 1st amendment rights, why don't they just take it to the political arena.....

Oh, that's right - they did - and they lost.

how can anyone take this guy seriously?
i mean he can't deal with his own aging how can he deal
with the real world? he marries the youngest women to keep
him young, dies his hair and gets botox and facelifts...
i cannot give him any credibility for intelligence when it is obvious
that his ego stands in his way on everything...

nope.
nope...can't take anything he says seriously.

We are EQUAL SOULS in human bodies. A marriage in a union of 2 souls.

What? Not enough legal jargon? For those who seem O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with genitalia in All Matters Oppressive to Queers, here's some friendly advice: "If thinking about gay sex grosses you out....STOP THINKING ABOUT GAY SEX!" ( or is it JUST the male-on-male stuff that makes you squirmy? Curious. )

Chuck Norris, Mike Huckabee, and their ilk need to seriously S.T.(F.ace)U. These hetero "Masters" really NEED a group to dominate; why can't they play their little dom/sub games at home, and NOT in federal law.

That's right Chuck and I guess they were following nearly 500o years of history when black people weren't allowed to marry white people as recently as the 1960's.

Essentially, you are a damn fool - desparately trying to carry some real political weight because of your C list Hollywood career. Note to Chuck: You are no Barbra Streisand and nobody in tehir right mind is going to give anything you say any importance.

When Chuck said, "Their pro-Prop. 8 votes weren't intended to deprive any group of its rights;" he is stating a common self-delusion. He claims that the vote for Prop 8 isn't intended to deny rights but that is undeniably exactly what it does. If you kick someone in the head you might kill them even if you didn't "intend to." You still did the kicking. And you still did the voting. The vote denied a minority their rights. YOUR VOTE denied a minority their rights. Voting yes on 8 and then claiming you didn't intend to deny anyone their rights is like stepping on the gas and then claiming that you didn't want your car to go any faster. You're delusional.

The issue is the people should not be able to "speak" on basic rights. In America, everyone should just have them...which is apparently too much to ask.

When CA legalized interracial marriage in 1948, I think something like 9 out of 10 people were still opposed to it. I guess Chuck feels that the CA courts were wrong then too?

Those who call themselves Christians are supposedly following the teachings & beliefs of Jesus Christ. Marriage is a sacrament, and I believe strongly that Jesus would never deny ANY man or woman the right to a sacrament. Nice, Christan thing to think, do & say, eh Chuck? You cling to your Christian faith, but have no idea what that actually means.

Chunk Norsage is right. Marriage IS INDEED the union between a man and a woman. And if a man wants to play the woman's role, or a woman a man's role, according to you, then that's ok too!
