Being out of power may be bad for the Republican Party, but for a nation of conservative bloggers, the chance to do a little authentic rabblerousing could pay big dividends. That's what Walter Alarkon notes in his article in today's The Hill:

A Washington in the hands of Democrats offers online pundits on the right a fresh political target and a chance to vent against their ideological opponents. The reverse scenario allowed their liberal counterparts to blossom during the blogosphere's infancy, when the GOP controlled the Congress and the Bush administration held power between 2003 and 2006.

But the aptly named "rightosphere," much like its liberal counterpart, "the netroots," doesn't simply want to criticize the other team. It sees this as its time to reshape the Republican Party.

"The rightosphere will be much better when the right has something to oppose," said Jon Henke, who writes at The Next Right.

Alarkon cites the way blogging communities tend to amplify the rhetoric against a common "unified grievance," but if you ask me, the more potentially interesting aspect of this shift could be how the blogosphere influences the evolution of the GOP. On that regard, things could get quite divisive between the purveyors of right-wing bloggery. One relatively fresh demarcation of a schism can be seen over at RedState, where they've basically doubled down on Sarah Palin as the future of the party, and have threatened to ostracize any who criticize her.

Naturally, I'm quite excited to see all of the bloggers who furtively defended President Bush's many Executive Branch power grabs to suddenly oppose these actions on principle now that a Democrat is in the White House.

Being out of power may be bad for the Republican Party, but for a nation of conservative bloggers, the chance to do a little authentic rabblerousing could pay big dividends. That's what Walter Alarko...

As one might expect, it's as fake as Iraq's WMDs.

Operation Palinade:

Let's go to as many RightWing sites as possible to build up Sarah Palin as the face of the GOP. If Peggy Noonan is accusing us of doing this then we might as well make it a self fulfilling prophecy.

Let's also promote a resurgence for Rudy Guiliani and Dick Cheney( ok that might be a tough sell) or maybe even Rush for Congress.

Let's have some fun, Shall We !

The right wing has had a strong internet presence well before we progressives did. Remember the now irrelevant Matt Drudge? The truth is that we surpassed them utterly. They're like ten years behind now. They'll never catch up seeing as how low tech, ignorant, and old Republicans tend to be. Besides, America has not only changed but is changing still and for the better. People are waking up to what the GOP (Greed Over People) is all about. These troglodytes have no influence over the intelligence young people who got Obama elected and will be our leaders in the future.

With a collective IQ of less than 90, "the base" will continue to follow all that is stupid, mean spirited and righteous. Somehow, they must be re-educated. Maybe we can call the new approach "No stupid left behind."

"The rightosphere will be much better when the right has something to oppose," -

When are they ever un-opposed to anything? The only thing that will change is their demented rhetoric will further voter dissatisfaction with the far-right.

They certainly have the rabble, but many of them are a bit old to rouse too far...

After the disaster known as the Bush Administration, with all the greed. corruption, malfeasance and malfeasance, a phony war in Iraq costing nearly $600 billion and growing, national debt over $ten trillion and the country now in economic depression, it will be interesting to see where these right wing bloggers will vent their venom and virtiol. What ever attack is mounted against Barack and the Democrats, the record of the past eight years and the anger and frustration of the American people who have awakened politically to the misery caused by the republicans to the nation, its people and the future hopes of our children will be enough to provide a counter attack to silence them. Bring it on!

I don't know if the blogosphere is the best place for a group of people who have a proven knack for making sow's ears out of silk purses.

Absolutely Not.

It keeps the animated caricatures of Limbaugh, Hanitty, Coulter, O'Reilly etc. in control of the Republican message , hopefully for a very long time. People who are forming their political ideas think of these people as fearmongering anachronisms. I want them to continue to spew their noxious gases for decades to come. The smell alone will repeal most fair minded and intellectually curious people away.

Love the quote: "The rightosphere will be much better when the right has something to oppose"

It is so idiotic. They only survived because they supported the Administration and its enablers and various camp followers. They HAD something to oppose. Common sense, Smart people, the "Elite", anyone who opposed the pResident's unarticulated policies, Constitutional checks and balances, fairness, civil discourse, the right to sue for violation of your rights or imposition of injuries in tort, conscientious judges, privacy rights, opposing the occupation of Iraq, high oil prices, taxes, caring about the future of the middle classes, heck the whole American system was game for them to oppose.

So now that the people have put some more democrats into power, you think they will rally? What are you smoking? I want some.
