Crain's Chicago Business:

Joe Ahern, who last month was replaced as station manager at WBBM-Channel 2, has joined the city's Olympic bid as a volunteer.

Mr. Ahern "will provide strategic counsel in a number of areas, including marketing, international relations, communications, development and sponsorships," according to a statement from Chicago 2016.

Mr. Ahern, an ABC veteran and fixture in Chicago television news for almost two decades, was unable to turn around Channel 2 during a six-year run as station manager. The 2016 committee said it will tap his media expertise as it prepares its final bid book, which is due to the International Olympic Committee in February.
