WASHINGTON — Sen. John McCain, whose presidential bid was snuffed out two weeks ago by President-elect Barack Obama, is setting up a political action committee as a first step in running for a fifth term in the Senate.

A McCain spokesperson says the 72-year-old senator decided with his senior advisers Tuesday night to set up the fundraising PAC. The spokesperson spoke anonymously because the decision had not yet been made public.

McCain's term ends in 2010.

Will he last that long? I know a number of older people (like myself) who saw the think-wheels coming off, and voted Obama because it was obvious McC seemed clueless with Joe L. at his elbow to get him into the present day. I voted Obie because it's going to take a very bright guy to get us out of the Bush mess.

Hopefully the good citizens of Arizona will send him packing.

Do the world some good, John. Support a cause you truly believe in. Perfect your standup routine. Become Boxing Commissioner. Leave government alone; you've done enough there.

And, according to recent polls he will lose, and lose big.

Too bad so sad.

He must really not enjoy being around Cindy that much. With that all my money I think I would find some time to spend with my wife and to work on philanthropic causes that did not involve struggling in the political arena.

They could probably rid an entire African country of AIDS just on the interest on her earnings from one year.

They have rarely been together in the entire time they have been married. McCain rarely even goes home on weekends. I would not be surprised to see a divorce in his future now that Cindy has had to give up her life-long dream of becoming first lady.

Who can the dems put up against him?

Janet Napoletano, the very popular governor. I think the Mac is going down in flames in 2010.

I hope the Republicans embrace their former candidate for president. He is such a loser. He really does represent the Republican Party.
