The new trailer for 'Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince' has hit the web. The film was initially going to released this November, but was pushed back until July 2009. While the studio said it was to take advantage of summer audiences, there was also speculation that it was due to star Daniel Radcliffe's naked turn on Broadway.

Is it July yet?

Oh, and I'm not buying that the reason they moved it is just because of Equus being controversial. Phoenix came out almost immediately after Radcliffe did the exact same play in London, with most of the heavy marketing coming during the play's run, with no problems.

Ahh this looks amazing! I'm glad they released another trailer (this is about the same time of year when Phoenix's first trailer came out).

I'm not *too* fussed about them moving the date. Sad, yeah, but it makes perfect sense why they would. They'd've had an absolutely monster 2008 and an anemic 2009. Plus this way, it's less time between HBP and the first Hallows installment.

And if them moving the film is enough to completely kill your interest, you must not have been that interested to begin with.

And yeah, Phoenix left out a lot of detail, but there's no way they could have taken an 800-page book and completely translated it on screen. That's a big reason why Hallows was broken up. EVERYTHING in it is important, and they can't exactly release one five-hour movie. :-)

I believe it's the last book, Deathly Hallows, which will be released as two films.

Trailer looks good. Something to look forward to during the heat of another summer in LA.

I'm SO over Harry Potter. I was waiting so anxiously for this movie and when they announced they were holding it over until July.............................well my interest just died. I tried watching that trailer to see if my interest would re-ignite.............NOPE. Don't care when it comes out now. Anybody else feel the same.

WB pushed it back because of business. Since THE DARK KNIGHT was beyond wildly successful, they wanted to ensure that 2009 would have a box office hit. That's all folks.

I thought The Dark Knight was one of the most over-rated movies ever made, second only to that waterlogged piece of dreck, Titanic.

I agree with you as to "Titanic", but "Dark Knight" was fabulous!

Titanic was dreck, and Dark Knight, while being over hyped, was quite good...just not as good as bally-hoo'd.

I agree on Dark Knight. So many plot holes it was silly, and why was Batman torturing a prisoner for info and tapping civilians' cell phones? Not cool.

The press release about how the first part of the Deathly Hallows now comes out 18 months after Half-Blood Prince instead of 2 years is probably just spin, but I think it's actually a great idea. Going to make for a long winter, though - the trailer looked great.

They need to release these movies closer together. There is such a span between them, that I don't even remember what is happening half the time. It's too bad, because they are great stories.

Do what most of us do; re-read the book right before the movie. Or rent and re-watch the most recent movie.

My kid tells me the last movie left out so much, that you can't know what the story was unless you'd read the books.

I don't understand why they pushed this film back to July of 2009. Clearly, it's done, it should be coming out at Thanksgiving like originally planned.

Daniel Radcliffe wouldn't be able to do pressers because he's doing Equus on Broadway, and naturally a lot of the questions would be about that given the nudity in the performance. Not something WB wants asked, even though they've publicly said they support his decision to do the play.

Still love the film chemistry with Radcliffe and Watson though. Too bad their characters don't get together in the end.

What I seem to remember reading was that Warner Bros looked at 2009, and realized that due to the writers strike, they were going to be without a big "tentpole" movie for the summer season. The clincher was the monster success of "Dark Knight". While it annoys we the fans, it certainly makes lots of business sense to space out two huge blockbusters over two summers as opposed to having a big summer, followed by a big holiday season, only to have nothing next summer.
