Dupre

People:

She was the tabloid sensation at the center of the sex scandal that brought down New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer. But in her very first interview, Ashley Alexandra Dupré tells PEOPLE, "I am a normal girl."

"Everyone knows me as 'that girl,' but I'm not just 'that girl,' " the 23-year-old former escort says in the new issue of PEOPLE, on sale Friday. "I have a lot of depth, a lot of layers."

Enduring a media spotlight that included seeing her MySpace photos splashed on front pages "has been really hard," the New Jersey native explains. "But I'm a survivor."

Her descent into tabloid mayhem began the night of Feb. 13, 2008, when Dupré - who had worked as a high-end escort to help pay the bills on and off since 2004 - met a client who turned out to be the Governor of New York.

Dupré claims she had no idea who the man was that night, recalling that he was a "polite" client who didn't want a lot of chit-chat. In fact, she didn't find out who he was until March when, just days after learning she was mixed up in some sort of FBI investigation, she saw the Spitzer apologizing on TV. "It was surreal," Dupré says of seeing the client she had met a month before. "I felt like I was sinking."

I don't judge her.

Spitzer is the one who screwed up.

Cut to the chase: Mr Spitzer expressed a form of remorse & regret for his acts in the WaPo recently. If Mr Spitzer & the lady's were combined-maybe BHO could see his way clear to using Mr Spitzer's services & skills in dealing with fraud which caused the meltdown. John Edwards has skills BHO could use, so does Gary Hart. These men could be useful. John Purfumo, a Brit, had similar problems. A UK Court directed him to show his remorse by doing works; he followed those instructions. He acheived many good thing. The Messrs Hart, Spitzer & Edwards might choose to follow Mr Purfumo's example. How about it President Obama? These men have seen the error of their ways. Could you allow them to express their remorse by doing good works for you?

"I felt like I was sinking" and "I'm sorry for your pain". Oh please. If she was truly sorry for Mrs. Spitzer's pain (not to mention her daughter's), she'd stay out of the press and let the story stay dead. Who really cares about this anyway. Another fabricated sensation by the media.

What's with the camisole and the strapless shoulder? Yeah, she seems really remorseful. Go away, Ashley Dear.

Question: Why does "she" have to apologize? She was [for all intents and purposes] practicing her "trade". The Governor is the one who should be publicly apologizing to his wife. Granted, it's generous of Miss Dupr to do so, but should she really have to?

no she doesn't, but she WANTS to, because it's press and then she might get a playboy deal or such..

Practicing a "trade" that just so happens to be illegal. There are thousands of women and men who will sleep in prison tonight because they were practicing their "trade". Instead of prison, this woman is sentenced to the cover of People magazine, an interview with Diane Sawyer and a lucrative book or record deal no doubt. This is a wonderful message for our young people. Some young girls will follow in the same direction and wake up in jail wondering what happened--Where's the glamour? Not only should Ashley apologize, the media should as well.

Well, since you're up there, why don't speak on the lack of family values of the Governor and those lacking in families that would allow a child to consider such a life in the first place. Considering the fact that the trade is illegal, the thrust of religiosity has done nothing to help prevent [much less stop] it. In fact, wasn't Jesus a defender of one such young lady? Not the sin per se, but the woman? Perhaps you should consider that as well before you decide to take a self-righteous dump on her. We live in a sinful world where things happen that are beyond our control. Some, however are not [and should not be] beyond our comprehension. These things we can address with humility and understanding that we are no better than the person committing the sin. We can judge them by their deeds, but hopefully that judgment provides us with perspective instead of ammunition.

What was it that Jesus said about judging others?

Can you cast the first stone?

Because she's "remorseful" and she "has a lot of depth".

Imagine: 'The Ashley Dupre Show', a new addition for reality television.

I'm glad that I almost never watch TV. I would probably shoot myself.
