I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Pitt Fan

While on Oprah to talk about his life and promote his new film, Brad Pitt came face to face with one of his more ardent fans in the most uncomfortable Oprah moments of recent time.

Via webcam, Oprah welcomed viewers to the show to ask questions of Pitt and Cate Blanchett, stars of "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button."

Up on the big screen came Christina, a self-professed fan of 17 years, who wanted to know how many tattoos Brad has and where they are and their meanings.

Pitt glossed over answering, so she followed up with specifics, naming the tattoo and the body parts she wanted to know about. When Pitt turned red and went silent, Oprah pressed her, the fan, for more tattoo details.

The awkwardness is remarkable and lasts a shockingly long time until Oprah finally shut it down.

Back in May Angelina told EW about the tattoo on Brad's back:

What's the deal with Brad's new tattoo?
I drew that. We went to Davos. It's not that we were bored at the World Economic Forum, but one night we didn't have anything to do, so I was drawing on his back.

So it's not permanent?
It is. But I was just sketching.

On him?
On him, yeah.

And you thought, 'Let's make it a tattoo'?
He just liked it! The picture everybody saw was kind of awkward, but it just lines up beautifully on his back, just enhances the part of the body I like.

The one on his stomach is Jolie's birthday in Khmer (6-4-1975):

His arm tattoo has been identified as an outline of the iceman, Ötzi, who was found in an Italian glacier in 1991. He is thought to be around 5,300 years old and is Europe's oldest natural human mummy.

Honestly, for a potential stalker, she seems quite sane and somewhat understanding of his unwillingness to get into it.

You're right. This girl is no stalker. . It is all part and parcel of the media manipulation attached to the Brangelina three ring circus.

funny overall. i think the fan just had a lot of information and wanted to impress the sox off of everyone with how much she knew. but man, underneath it all, he's a person. i would cringe if something "personal" i had mentioned to a friend a long time ago came back to me via an absolute stranger years later. i still can't get over how all levels of government failed during katrina. then a celebrity couple rolled up their sleeves pulled up their sox built 150 green homes for the city's homeless victims. and they're still going strong, psa's, their foundation work. and on top of that they keep day jobs, and have a family. wouldn't you like to join them in their crusade or know how do they dream it, make it real and keep it going?

they don't have "day jobs." Their jobs are periodic "events" - movies. The rest of the time they're free, aided by numerous nannies, chefs, shoppers, etc. It's not hard at all to imagine how they "keep it all going."

Give me a break. Since when does asking someone about a tatoo equal stalking? Angelina Jolie has made her various tatoos publicly known.

Why would anyone get tattoos if they are uncomfortable with them? I can understand getting one, then realising you get embarrassed by it and you don't do it again but to have repeated tattoos that you are then ashamed to talk about is just dumb.

She didn't seem crazy...but I don't gethow people get into celebrities as if they really have a realtionship and are a part of their life. IT's generally bizarre.

Okay, first, the woman clearly was not obsessed, but was a big fan. Personally, I don't admire anyone enough to consider myself a "fan" although there are celebs whose work I admire.

She may not have been particularly obsessed but she seemed a little fuzzy on boundaries. He said he didn't want to tell her about it so that's where it should have stopped. If you know someone well, maybe you could press a little to get them to open up. But I wouldn't feel comfortable pressing someone I didn't know to tell me something they preferred to keep private, famous or not.

dear huffpo, please dont demonize people when you have no evidence to back up. this woman was a fan and asked about his tattoos. when he refused to answer, she said she respected it and let it go. its brad's right to not answer and its her choice as a fan to ask questions and see what she can get as answers. it was fair game on both sides. i suspect brad's backstory on the tattoos were personal and he didnt want to share them with the world. but as a fan she tried to ask him a couple of times and then let it go. i dont see any obsession here.

Huffpo really shocked me w/ this- it's not even close to being a story. Hope this isn't the beginning of sensationalism on this site. I also don't think there was any "obsession" there, just another fan.

Who generates the most heat and excitment on these threads? It is we who dispute the pros and cons of BrangelinaLand. H u ff loves the ying and yang of our ongoing disputes.

FYI, Huffington Post is a general interest site. Apparently a lot of web users are interested in tatoos in general. Mr Pitt's tattoos are interesting to a lot of web users. HP wants to be used by a lot of people. Advertisers buy ads on web sites that are popular. Did you notice that HP has a lot of ads? If a blog about an actors tattoos attracts web users-HP will use that blog. HP is a profit making operation; so are supermarket tabloids.

Brad Pitt just sounds incredibly naive in this particular Oprah interview. He also sounds like he's out of touch with the very publicity he used to seek when aspiring to become a well-known & very well-paid Hollywood actor.

I guess I'd expect him to be a little more serious & even 'humbled' (for lack of a better word) by the important years of parenting ahead ... not just bringing the babies home! And on that topic, when they find themselves having to choose which ones they take with them (as they recently did in the Angelina Jolie interview post-Changeling) & which ones they must leave behind in the care of others, then perhaps they have more than they can handle.

I do admire how Oprah Winfrey talks to Pitt & can draw him out about his feelings regarding fatherhood; but once again, having a family isn't as egocentric as Pitt makes it sound. I mean to say, it's certainly not just about what he wants ~ or what Jolie wants ~ but what's in the best interests of their several small (not even yet school aged) children.

Obsessed? The woman was perfectly reasonable, polite and respectful. Huffpost is grasping on this one.

Initially Brad was very wary. (Look at his eyes.) He was thrown by the location (Ontario) and the name (Christina) as well as the nature of the question because he has a certain tattoo in an intimate location.

I don't understand. Are you saying that there was some personal connection between Pitt & Ontario & someone named Christina? What does that have to do with anything?

Moreover ... I would imagine that Oprah's people screened the callers & so knew in advance what they would be asking her celebrity guests.

I would've liked to have asked both Pitt and Blanchett about challenging roles they undertook in the past (one when Pitt was still married to the lovely Aniston) & how this differs from lighter entertainment ... how they balance the roles they choose. In particular, I would've asked about Brad's portrayal of Heinrich Harrer in Seven Years in Tibet (a lovely film) & Blanchett's emotional role as Charlotte Gray during the French Resistance.

OMG! This is like a story from the National Enquirer.

The headline makes it sound like Christina is a stalker. She was prefectly normal and just asking a questing. I would hardly call her an obsessed fan.

I thought Huffington Post was better than this.

Is Huffington's becoming the Sun? The woman was not obsessed. Don't become hypocritical and go down the slope of slime. Have some standards here.

I saw the exchange between Pitt and Christina, I thought it was cute and funny. I don't know why he didn't just answer her questions, what's the big deal? I don't blame him for not stripping down and showing them but to give a brief explanation doesn't seem like it should be an embarrasment for Mr Pitt.
