In this Oct. 20, 2008, file photo Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., left, and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. greet supporters at the end of a rally in Orlando, Fla. Former President Bill Clinton's globe-trotting business deals and fundraising for his foundation sometimes put his activities abroad at odds with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, and it could cause complications for her if President-elect Barack Obama considers her to be secretary of state. (AP Photo/John Raoux, File)

CHICAGO — Associates of Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband say the former first lady is weighing whether to leave the Senate and become secretary of state, believing the job is hers if she wants it.

Obama transition officials say other candidates have been vetted for the job, but the New York senator has emerged as the leading contender and the vetting of former president Bill Clinton has been particularly intense. Associates say Hillary Clinton has been told that Obama wants her to be secretary of state, although accounts differ on how bluntly and directly Obama made the overture. They would speak only on grounds of anonymity because of the private nature of the negotiations.

Hoping to ease concerns about possible conflicts of interest, Bill Clinton has agreed to publicly disclose the names of all donors who have given more than $250 to his presidential library and foundation.

Did anyone see Morning Hoe suggest that Romney be a liason to the Auto Industry this morning?

What a joke. Romney heaped praise on the industry when he was campaigning here in MI during the primaries. And now he is slamming them. This guy is as two faced as they come.

McCain lost MI because Romney called his criticism of Detroit "unpatriotic".

I just stopped laughing at that suggestion.

Thanks a lot. Now I have to laugh some more.

McCain lost Michigan because the voters preferred Obama. As for Romney, he comes from a family of politicians; remember, his dad George was Governor of MI. I think the two faces are genetically acquired.

His suggestion of bankrupcy that would assist the industry in dumping it's employee penions was absolutely outrageous ... workers be dam ned AGAIN !

Mitt Romney is not a warm and fuzzy guy and cares not a whit for the workers' pensions even though he sure talked a good game when he was running in the primary. We dodged a serious bul let there.

We're in for it, I suspect...and if the weather shifts in the Mid-West and we get another "dust bowl", I shudder to think...

We need to get out of Iraq, bring our soldiers and our money home, and get ourselves together...we're fiddling while Rome burns...

( nothing like mixing metaphors........oh well)

New tape from al Qaeda.

Obama isn't on it and is actually being attacked by al Qaeda.

Those folks at the McCain/Palin rallies would have bet their last tooth that he was in al Qaeda.

The perfect strategy. Throw the MSM (and bloggers) a Clinton bone to gnaw on and while everyone's attention is focused on this non-drama drama one can go about the serious business of transition in relative privacy and no other pick gets hammered or second guessed with the same intensity. 0bama and his team has been ahead of the curve from day one. Smart people.

Biden is well-versed in foreign affairs and has a strong personality.
Clinton has a stong personality and reportedly gets along really well with Biden.
Biden is probably not going to sit on the sidelines regarding foreign affairs.
SOS needs to be one who doesn't get steam-rolled by Biden.
Clinton likes to fight the good fight. Biden can take it.

After eight years of numbness. (I want to cry when I think of how this administration stole not only an election but eight years of our lives), I welcome the romanticism of engagement.

A failed CEO like Carly Fiorina is the right person to criticize the CEOs of The Big 3.

She knows all about failure.

Folks who can't run a bizness and received a blank check/golden parachute for failure, are the ones we should be listening to, gladys.

Don't let Carly's failure and profit from failure dissuade you from believing in her.

She is what America needs.

Try to keep up. :)

The Clinton's are problem solvers and policy wonks. Their eyes don't glaze over after 10 minutes of discussing the details of planning and executing policy. That's what the country needs at this time. I could care less about all of the media's hype about the Clinton's. Let the media and the right wing bash them. If President Obama has a successful 8 years, Senator Clinton will be in a perfect position to run for President in 2016 and we will hold the White House for the next 16 years.

Do you know how old she will be? Do you really think she is going to take the position if they have to do a good vetting? I take offense to Bill's comparing he and his wife's finances to Sr. and Jr.'s connections. They don't do their taxes together, but he is right, George Sr. should be investigated as well.

Carly Fiorina looks like chit this morning.

Is she wearing Sarah's old Thriller leather jacket?

It is way too early for red leather and fushia lipstick.

I guess this proves that having lots of money can't buy taste or chic. Look at some of the outfits Cindy McCain was wearing. Made her look like a whacked-out, plastic, aging Barbie doll. Yuck!!

I think a good dose of lucidity is needed here. It is not "weird" that Obama is offering Hillary the SoS position, it is logical. It was clear from the beginning that Obama was going to offer her a high-level position in his administration.
This should not be interpreted a return of Clintonism. Try finding a high-profile, experienced Democrat that fits the bill for SoS and that has absolutely no link to the former Clinton administration. Obama cannot afford to surround himself entirely by neophytes; he needs support from an experienced team.
My question is, have those of you that are criticizing the choice of Clinton as SoS at all noticed that Obama has been surrounding himself by former Clintonites since he was elected? Why is it that this moves shocks everyone and that no-one criticized the choice of former Bill Clinton advisor Rahm Emanuel as Obama's Chief of Staff?
There is another reason Obama is doing this. He knows that the Democratic party cannot afford to ignore its heritage from the Clinton era. That era is too recent and counts too many faithfuls for it to be discounted. If the Democrats want to stay in power in the long term, they need to avoid internal bickering and present a coherent party stance to the opposition. Look at what's happening to the socialist party in France. It's not worth the risk.

Actually her post DOES make sense, and just because 70% of people don't agree, doesn't mean that it's not correct.
BTW where did you come up with that number?
Also, I seem to recall 70% of Americans thought Drill, baby, drill was a good idea....hmmmmm...not so much!
I would say that instead of the bloggers, and pundits who know NOTHING about what's really going on, might want to leave the decision making up to the people making the decisions.
Opinions are like (_*_) everyone's got one.

Folks need to get use to this idea it is GOING to happen. Try wrapping your mind around it now. But here's the thing folks say Oh Hilary is going to sabotage Obama but lets think about this for a while. Whats in it for her to sabotage Obama. Its in her interest to do a good job to respect Obama's vision and to carry it out. Lets suppose she wants to run in 2016 there is still that dream of being the first Woman President. Obama would work his heart out to get her elected. So why would she ruin that opportunity.

I'm trying to find positives from this relationship because I know its going to happen. I think their opposite personality she having a raw kind of toughness and Obama having mental toughness may work well together. Imagine how it makes Obama look in the eyes of other leaders that he has enough confidence in himself to chose his rival for a position that they had the most differences on during the primary. I'm just trying to find that silver lining.

World leaders read the news. They know Hillary and Obama are not close. That will have a huge influence on whether they really believe they are speaking to a spokesperson for the POTUS. This is a political appointment not one based on "who is the best person for the job".

She has no real foreign policy experience and diplomatic is hardly the word that comes to mind regarding Hillary. Drama is the the word that comes to mind. Look no further than the way this process is leaked to the press and the pure drama of "will she or won't she" ?

I think she is smart and tough. I also think she is a liar (Bosnia Bullets?) and simply not the best person for this appointment.

It is Obama's credibility that is lost now. For 2 years he told us she was wrong on foreign policy and had bad judgement. Now he appoints her to state ? Either he was lying then or he is lying now. He can't have it both ways.

He can have it both ways if he feels that she will work with him...just as she worked with him during the election.
