ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Minnesota judge has granted a request by Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken for the release of information on voters whose absentee ballots were rejected.

Ramsey County Judge Dale Lindman directed the county to produce the data by the close of business Wednesday. It complied.

Franken wanted the rosters of disqualified absentee voters in all 87 counties to determine if they were properly rejected in the counting of ballots for his close race with incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman.

Lindman's ruling applies only to Ramsey County, the state's second-largest county and the home of the state capital, but it represents a partial victory for Franken.

A key board hasn't decided whether to allow wrongly rejected absentee ballots into the statewide recount.

Another example of the repubs willingness to win at any cost ethics. The truth and right be damned. There is only power and the exercise of it.

Go Franken!

Sweeeeeeet, get them votes. I agree the photo is strange as some of the others are. Some titles are off by a mile. It happens, just takes time to get things the way the consumers or activists (that's us) like them. Though I will say this, Franken isn't very photogenic. He's a talker, a real good one too.

Al looks like he just got back from a session with Norm Coleman's dentist.

Uh Oh!

I'm guessing the GOP is going to owe ACORN a big huge apology once it's proven that they are the fraudulent ones.....

Good Al. Do not back down. Your very first piece of legislation can be a comprehensive election fraud and voters rights act.

2009 S.R.1145-9 Franken/Dodd Act.

I love Al Franken and I think that photo does him no justice - he's actually pretty cute. Go kick some butt Al and kick skinny ass coleman's butt for cheating in the election. Junior Senator, Al Franken from the state of Minnesota! I love it!!

I'm so glad about this one, I'm going to read Al Franken's book, which my mother gave me a copy of.

The last part scares me: "A key board hasn't decided whether to allow wrongly rejected absentee ballots into the statewide recount." ...

My question is WHY THE H E double Hockey Sticks not!!!!

If you find that an absentee ballot was wrongly rejected you should be obliged to count that vote in the recount. It should be common sense, under the equal protection clause of the constitution I assume SCOTUS would have already ruled on this, if there were any boards corrupt enough not to count wrongly rejected absentee ballots.

There's a lot of really messed-up election law all over the country. There very well could be a law that states you can't include rejected absentee ballots unless you do some specific contortion before the election, regardless of the reason for the rejection. It's wacky.

good going, al! man, do i ever want to see election reform that sticks it to republicans and their damn voter suppression. they yell about "voter fraud" regarding ACORN, which every thinking person knows is fraud on ACORN itself, and no vote gets fraudulently cast. and at the same time they quietly behind the scenes disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of people all over the US. why this isn't loudly exposed by the media every time it happens is beyond me. it's a lot more important than all the stupid little details about palin.

Bad photo. Reminds me of all the horrible photos Huffingtonpost was putting up of Michelle Obama at the beginning of the campaign. What's up Huffington?

Keep fighting Al.

Franken is not a true Democrat. I remember how he was speaking about his support for the war in a TV interview. Minnesota can do better than that.

norm coleman is better?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:21 PM on 11/19/2008

Um, please define "better". Surely you're not talking about Norm Coleman. I think the outcome of the election is limited to between just these two.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:25 PM on 11/19/2008

Unfortunately Sparky, this election is between he and Col man. So whether Minn can do better than that is really kind of a moot point. Don't you think? If you think there is a better Demo, then I suggest you get them ready for the next Senate race is six years.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:25 PM on 11/19/2008

Would you prefer a lying, cheating crook like Norm Coleman? Franken isn't perfect, but he's better than the alternative.

82 Democrats in the house and 29 in the Senate supported the authorization to use force in Iraq (the Iraq war). Does that make them not true Democrats?
