The Oxdown Gazette:

This is what Home Depot's founder Bernie Marcus said on a conference call yesterday:

"If a retailer has not gotten involved with this, if he has not spent money on this election, if he has not sent money to Norm Coleman and these other guys," Mr. Marcus said, apparently referring to Republican senators facing tough re-election fights, then those retailers "should be shot; should be thrown out of their goddamn jobs."

It's nice to know Home Depot supports the death penalty for not supporting their politics. The coming EFCA fight is going to be bloody.

The smart retailers actually don't let anyone know what their politics are. Home Depot must think that they can survive on just republican and indifferent consumers' money. I am in neither one of those categories.

All of the big retailers start out trying to be good places to do business with and end up trying to be good places to own stock in. I've been to some Home Depot stores lately where you still get good service, but for the most part I get the feeling individual customers just aren't that important to them. Unfortunately Lowe's gets more like Home Depot all the time. In Tucson Habitat for Humanity has a HabiStore, and there are some very good sources for used building materials and tools, as well as some good smaller hardware stores.
I've been an unhappy customer of Home Depot for several years now, and this may just give me enough reason to avoid the annoyance in the future.

A retailer stupid enough to mix his business and his politics should be fired.

Bye bye Depot as well. My $$$ will go elsewhere, this prick should be forced to empty bed pans of his employees that don't have health insurance.

This Home Depot corporate credit card carrying Democrat sent an email to said Founder in care of Home Depot telling him & the company they can now stick the 300 + corporate credit cards we have where the sun don't shine!! Corporate application will be submitted to Lowes tomorrow A.M. and I will personally deliver the HD credit cards back to the company with joy together with truck loads of a whole lot of other stuff -- let's ref 7 figure estimates -- with pleasure!!! Bite me as I'm bit*chy enough to play at this game and as owner can do so. Palin's pit-bull reference -- she's only an appetizer to me.

He's also gonna take a hit in the Nascar arena. Tony Stewart and his new Toyota team will find themselves with a substantial amount of merchandise that just doesn't sell and I just can't understand why!! LOL. It won't be just my company. I have this wee problem -- I talk a lot!!!! My roledex will be very busy the rest of the week!! Corporate functions will no longer be held with the Nascar race being the highlight closing of an annual function.

Love it when plans come together. I'd call it open mouth, insert both feet up to his a.r.s.e. I wouldn't have cared, as I knew he was a Repug -- but due to his statements. Corporate stupidity. Love it!!!

A perfect example of what is wrong with American business "leaders" in general (not all thankfully): they can't see beyond the length of their, eh, noses. There is more to life and more to the USA than the bloody quarterly numbers. This guy would have voted for Mussolini if it would have improved his "numbers". I don't buy Domino pizzas and now I won't shop Home Depot because their "leaders" aren't smart enough to not offend half of their customers with their inane political statements.

Another case of bad karma........"Home Depot closing 15 stores, 1 in NJ ( New Brunswick )". What goes around, comes around. This is just the beginning.
Wonder if bush had any investments in this because everything he touches fails, hence the entire country.
