I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Barack and Michelle Obama are pretty famous for their public displays of affection, and 10-year-old daughter Malia approves. During the family's "Access Hollywood" interview on July 4th, Michelle was asked what the last romantic thing she's done was. After saying that she raises his children--and Barack agreed "That is pretty romantic"--she went on to say "I think it's the little kisses...he likes to get attention. Just coming and sitting on his lap and telling him I'm proud of him." Then Malia adds, "It also makes me feel good. Kids like it when their parents are all...except sometimes when you get to be a teenager and people think it's embarrassing. I like it though. It makes me feel good."

What did he just do at the end of the clip?? :) HA HA

Malia is so cute....and they're all like....
It's great to see kids who enjoy knowing their parents are loving - sets a great example for the types of relationships THEY deserve.
These little girls will be VERY particular about the partners they choose - they won't just settle.

So very true.
As a mother of 6 (5 daughters), I'll never forget my eldest daughter's response when a guy made kissing noises at her as she passed, and when she ignored him, he said, "Oh, you think you're too good, huh?"
She said, "Yes I do! What do you have to offer anyone when you stand on the corner all day and watch my father go to work and come home from work? If I need anything, I can ask my Dad for it!"
The best thing a man can do for his children is to love and respect their mom.

I Love Barack and His Girls! Mr and Mrs O are great role models for their kids and those girls are just too gorgeous. Well spoken and well behaved.

What Malia says is so true. I remember being a litle girl and my father coming home from work. First he'd whistle in the doorway and then he'd go into the kitchen and hug and kiss my mother for a long time. I'd squeeze in between them and they'd hug me. Everything in the world was fine.

oh my gosh that is so warm....:).
Since my husband and I don't have kids yet....it reminds me of when we hug/kiss and our puppy comes between us...:)

The very very best sex education for kids is when they have grown up seeing their daddy come home from work (or mommy, for that matter) and the parents greet each other with a big BIG kiss and a hug. There's no disguising that mom and pop are enjoying this moment. And it just invites even more when mom and dad--after the mega-PDA--sweep the little tykes up into their arms and hug them, too.

My mom and dad did this every day in the 40s and 50s. It was cool. I miss them now that they are gone. But that daily family (not public) display lives in my memory and has shaped my perspective on love and sex and family.

Poor Barack. All his ladies are so outspoken, totally dissing him, "oh, daddy likes the attention" and what not. They are a tough crowd!

It's almost like he had to become pres. so people would have to defer to him a little :)

I would guess that Barack likes that about his women, and people in general. He's not looking for people to be deferential, whatever their sex, race, faith, etc. That's why he attracted so much support. He realizes it's not about him. He's less like the typical politician than I presumed him to be. But that makes me like him more, Redsongia. You should try it sometime; maybe you'll get the same reaction :).

It is truly wonderful to see two people that love each other. When they are close to each other you can almost feel the electricity flow between them. What a wonderful example for the nation.

the best thing a man can do for his children is to love and respect their mother. i imagine that given his own upbringing, obama is acutely aware of the power that a model of loving and committed parents can have on a child. he's said before that for a lot of guys they are either driven by trying to live up to the example of their father, or striving to avoid his mistakes, and from what we've seen of his family it's clear that he really takes that to heart.

i have to say though that this clip contains my favorite michelle moment ever. indeed raising his children is very romantic, that was a fantastic answer.

I can't help but believe the country has been truly blessed at this moment in time
when so much is wrong and getting worse.

To have good, decent and caring people in DC can only help. Our new president has a huge climb ahead of him and it's comforting to know that he has the support of a loving family and the earned respect of a worried country. He certainly has mine!

seriously - he's so right....money, it's just paper....material things...they can't kiss you or hug you back..
food, well, that sustains you and gives you nourishment as well as water, but love is nourishment for the soul.

Soooo much better for the kids to see their parents smooching than to see them fighting. It's about helping them feel secure. He-ll, even I'm starting to feel more secure.

I don't care what anyone else says. This is the perfect first family. You can't fake affection like this. It flows between all four of them. The parents love each other, they love their children, their children love each other and they love their parents. It's a shining light in these dark and depressing days to see so much warmth and affection. This is the family at its best, as it should be.

True, real and honest 'family values' with the Obama's.
Such a wonderful example for one another and for the country.

I remember when my mom was working in the kitchen and my dad would sneak up behind her and steal a kiss. It made me feel warm and loved.

Lovely and true words! If only Huffpost wouldn.t call it PDA all the time. That makes me cringe everytime. It makes it sound like a disease or a "concept".
It.s simply love and affection. Great words that we should use as often as possible!
