Washington Post:

The CIA repeatedly misled Congress and the Justice Department in their investigations of the 2001 shoot-down of a Peruvian plane carrying U.S. missionaries, according to findings of an internal CIA probe released today by congressional officials.

The agency's inspector general concluded that CIA officers in Peru consistently ignored rules of engagement in connection with the downing of at least 10 aircraft suspected of carrying narcotics over the South American country. Yet, CIA managers covered up the problems and knowingly gave false accounts to government officials investigating whether agency employees committed crimes.

Excerpts of the inspector general's report were released by Rep. Peter Hoekstra (Mich.), the ranking Republican on the House intelligence committee. He called today for a new criminal inquiry, as well as congressional hearings, into what he described as a "startling" attempted coverup by the spy agency.

More innocent bystanders in the war on drugs. Only the bad guys benefit from this war. The U.S. motto is "In God We Trust." Well, here's what that particular god has to say on the matter (Genesis 1:29): God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant-yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food." Pass the brownies, please, and some of that old-time Coca-Cola.

Look up Bush and the word d r u g s. Do the same with Clinton.

What about the people selling it? Did you know our own government used to sell it?

If you don't believe me look up Iran Contra.

Were still selling drugs. Way too profitable way to finance lots of dirty little tricks.

Heroin production continues to rise in Afghanistan. Think that's an accident?

President-elect Obama must NOT keep the same CIA & FBI heads that we
have now for his administration.

President-elect Obama should get men that he knows that are qualified
and can be trusted, because he will be dangering himself and our country.

Look at histroy, JFK kept the same heads and it didn't work out for him did it.

He may not be able to appoint a new FBI head. At least not for some time. I think the serve a fixed term.

But yes. Change those positions ASAP.

CIA misleading congress? Other shocking news: Grass is green, water is wet, and the Barack Obama is the President-elect of the United States.

OK, that last one is pleasingly shocking.

Exactly. It's encouraging that few people here are shocked by the latest revelation. What is shocking to me is that it was reported by a mainstream publication.

Why is the CIA shooting down planes in Peru?

If the planes are carrying narcotics for the US market, don't ya think that addicition is our problem?

Maybe if every kid in Los Angeles could get a job, they wouldn't need to be taking or selling drugs.

Drying up the demand is the way forward. The supply will always get through to a waiting market.

Legalize it.

And reduce the profit margin.

Being illegal is what makes it so valuable.

This is not a surprise. I suspected as much when the incident was first reported. The CIA and other agencies that do covert work have committed thousands of reprehensible and illegal acts. They ignore international, national , and local laws as a matter of course. They are a law unto themselves, and I doubt if we will ever learn the depths to which these people have gone to advance their agenda, or the agenda of the US government (they are not always the same). CIA directors, and other officers of clandestine agencies have no problem at all going in front of Congress and lying through their teeth, just as other members of various administrations have. They have the money, they have the guns, they have intel tools that would make your hair stand on end if you knew, and they are a tool of the military-industrial complex that owns this nation. No one is going to be punished for this shoot-down. This is just standard operating practice. The deaths of innocent bystanders hardly creates a blip on these people's moral radar.

They said a black man would never be elected either. If we can put a black man in the presidency, we can put some politicians and operatives in jail. If we really want it, we will get it.

Impeachment, reform of the CIA, and amendments to reduce presidential powers, limit pardoning, and review and repeal the worst pardons in history.

Hmm, and yet somehow they have continued to try and convine the American public that bin Laden was responsible for 9-11.

Yeah, right...........

Yes, yes, different subject I know - but what better place to make my point.

He did nothing of the sort.

If you are refering to one of the mysterious videos they seem to issue in a timely manner, they're all fabricated and in some cases they didn't even use the same guy.

I don't know what point you are trying to make.

9/11 was a CIA plot?

I can maybe sort of believe that Oswald was not the lone gunman.

But I am pretty sure I saw those planes fly into the World Trade Center buildings.

And al Qaida take credit it for it.

Durango....if 9/11was not allowed to happen by those in power ...then I truly fear for our security as a nation...How does someone fly a jetliner into the pentagon...unless they are allowed to do so , by those charged with our protection ?

Hearing the same thing...the "poop" is going to hit the fan..I hope to see MANY going to Prison...
Bush's "pardon" privileges should be taken away...he's a criminal..not a President...you don't give criminals "pardon power".

I'm not a lawyer, but I suspect that there is some legal point about not being able to pardon oneself or fellow conspirators that may cause the overthrow of any Bush pardons of himself and his cronies. I really hope so.
