Intelligence Report: US Can No Longer 'Call The Shots Alone'

The United States' leading intelligence organisation has warned that the world is entering an increasingly unstable and unpredictable period in which the advance of western-style democracy is no longer assured, and some states are in danger of being "taken over and run by criminal networks".

The global trends review, produced by the National Intelligence Council (NIC) every four years, represents sobering reading in Barack Obama's intray as he prepares to take office in January. The country he inherits, the report warns, will no longer be able to "call the shots" alone, as its power over an increasingly multipolar world begins to wane.

Although I didn't, I can see why some supported the first Presidency of Bush - but the second! There was no excuse as by then everyone knew what direction his group would lead us. Unfortunately, his successful 2nd run was a result of a very undisciplined and uneducated populace believing there were no consequences to their single issue voting habits and if so, it would not interfere with their personal space. So much damage to our country and others has been done by this mistake! People can not forget how we got to where we are now and the people who led us here. We can no longer lead if we no longer accept the responsibilities for doing so.

Duh. The US cannot call the shots alone? It's actually lolworthy that they need an Intelligence report to lay that out plain and bare.

If there were only one country in the world... then they'd call the shots. Since there are a few hundred nations... the idea seems a little presumptuous at the very least.

The US has never been without allies. So hrmmm... Go figure. Other countries actually do exist. They are not mythological places.
