Rove

Today's Wall Street Journal features an op-ed from former White House Adviser Karl Rove that's filled with cautions and advice and ruminations on the obvious offered up to Barack Obama because Rove just wants to go on helping out as the president's brain and stuff. Anyway, aside from having the most strangely misleading deck copy in the world (it reads "There may be more difficulties than he realizes in closing Gitmo" when in fact the only mention of Gitmo comes in the eleventh paragraph of this sixteen paragraph editorial), the piece is noteworthy for this paragraph, stuck in at the end, where Rove tries to work in one last "suspicious associations" charge on Obama, for auld lang syne:

There is also a thorny local controversy. Should the new president replace U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who prosecuted Mr. Obama's fund-raising patron, Tony Rezko, and is investigating high-profile Democrats?

HAHA YES, Karl! Would you be referring to the same U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald who - uhm...investigated you and other high-profile members of the Bush White House in the Valerie Plame CIA leak scandal? And, wouldn't you know, Karl, from personal experience, Karl, whether it's wise or not to remove a bunch of U.S. Attorneys for political reasons?

Don't forget - according to Rove, Obama barely won.

This is like having Christopher Hitchens advise the Pope (not that I put Hitch in the same slimy category as Rove.) Does he really think Obama wants or needs his advice?

Shut up, go away and we might forget who you are before the charges are levied. On second thought, stick around, I think you should be justly remembered when the time comes.

I would love to have a fantasy come true...every innocent person who has been held in Gitmo all these years with never a charge filed against him...say they all get together and meet Rove one night after they are released and have a little "talk' with him somewhere quietly and in private.

Oh he needs friends there and there a few worthy candidates, but I fear that none of them will ever be tried, let alone convicted. Gotta look forward, ya know. Never mind the law, never mind the vote, never mind the constitution. I will be very surprised if there is ANY accountability for any of the billions of tax dollars given to Bushco or anything else. Wouldn't be prudent.

I wish it were different. Justice might help the country get it's compass working again. We need to get to the bottom of who's trying to destroy this nation by bankrupting it.

Send him to a maximum security facility.

Maximum security. That's part of the Bush/Rove mantra. Perfect for them!!!

The downside for Karl? He might not last longer than Jeffrey Dahmer.

I want this man to be incarcerated at Bergen Belzen, he has done as much as he can for white rascists as any other living man....He should live with the ghosts of genocide there... After all Darfur was on his watch....

What's Rove afraid of? and who is still listening to him? I just want him to go away and take his hate and fear with him. He's the last person on earth to be giving advice to anyone.

Jason,

You should add the Don Siegelman case and the Michael Connell case to your list of Rove scandals.
