President-elect Barack Obama will continue his efforts to reach across the aisle today, as his designated White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will hold meetings on Capitol Hill with House and Senate Republican leaders.

Transition officials say Emanuel will "discuss how to best work together and ensure they know that the White House will be open at all times for them." The meetings come after Monday's session in Chicago between Obama and his vanquished Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Wonder if he'll be able to get McConnell to say good morning to Reid.

not yet december and a lot of work is being done, 6 cabinet picks and many senior staff already known. I got a feeling Obama's transition will break some records too, if Hillary's soap opera could draw to a close tomorrow....

Sounds like he is taking the position serious and not exactly being the partisan liberal the GOP painted him to be, right?

Show up with a subpoena just to get a rise out of them....whoever runs for the door or executive privilege is automatically guilty.

No matter how much the Dems reach out, the republicans will find every and any reason to be partisan. Let's face it, controversy brings news and people like conflict. It's sad but true.

They wouldn't be happy even if BO's entire cabinet were republican. They would figure out a way to destroy him. I'm willing to bet that the republicans will disagree with just about every effort the Dems put foward during Barracks term. Watch and see!

From now on, I'm going to write the word republican with a lowercase "r". At least until they stop acting like children

Pquilson,

Okay let me start over. Can you and I put aside titles and agree on something! Trust me, I'm sick of the bickering and childish behavior that's so devisive in our politics. We've been tricked to believe that because we have titles "Dems/Repubs" that we somehow must think a certain way and respond a certain way. If something makes sense for Americans, let's just support the person or persons that came up with the idea, regardless as to party affiliation. This is so stupid to me!!! Pain is pain, red is red, good is good and bad is bad and it doesn't matter to which party you belong to know that.

I only indict the repubs because of the mess we're in today and the tactics that have been used in times past.

I wonder how many House and Senate Repubs will come out of the meeting leaking info to the MSM and bashing Rahm because they didn't like the way he said "Hello."

Haha, and they will say, "Its not change, its more of the same", blah, blah
