National Security Network reports on the upshot of the tape in which No. 2 Al Qaeda Ayman al-Zawarhri calls Barack Obama a "house negro":

Experts agree that the release of a new tape by Al Qaeda's second in command Ayman al-Zawahri indicates that Al Qaeda feels threatened and is on its heels after Obama's resounding victory. President-elect Obama's diverse background, along with his pledge to reverse many of the policies and approaches of the Bush administration on issues such as detentions at Guantanamo, torture and the war in Iraq has served to dramatically improve America's image, especially in the Muslim world.

Counter-terrorism expert Richard Clarke explained, "Most of all, by returning to American values the world admires, Obama sets al Qaeda back enormously in the battle of ideas, the ideological struggle which determines whether al Qaeda will continue to have significant support in the Islamic world." Having thrived on the decline in America's world image, the impact of Obama's victory provides a direct challenge to Al Qaeda's negative depiction of the United States. Additionally, Obama's emphasis on shifting US attention from Iraq to Afghanistan represents a direct physical threat to Al Qaeda's leadership. America's improved global image and the new administration's focus on Afghanistan threatens Al Qaeda and has led to what experts see as a confused, racist, and off-kilter response reflective of an organization on the defensive.

Meanwhile, experts tell CNN that Obama is poised to restore America's image in the international community.

Bushco had to protect bin Hidin' because as soon as he was captured or kil_led, the justification for their phony war on terror would be thrown out the window. They were never trying very hard to get bin Hidin'.

Hopefully we are seeing the beginning stages of al Quaeda becoming irrelevant as a semi-organized fighting force.

You know, the one thing I was afraid of is that they would trot out Bin Laden during the last days of the election. You notice that Al-Queda didn't send out any tapes. What is all this smarty stuff about now?

I read an article about Kenyans who were recruited to Somalia by Al Qaeda because of the money. they've returned home, the money wasn't worth what they were asked to do. This, along with our restored
credibility will result in the demise of this group.

I'm sure Al Queda is just shaking in their sandles. They're most likely planning their next attack, which will likely happen soon after Clinton's er Obama's administration cuts defense spending. Even Joe Biden said he will be tested within six months of taking office.

Of course they're planning their next attack, you bonehead. What do you think they've been doing up till now? They are going to try to hit us and they ain't going to stop until we smash their organization into non-existence. Who would you rather have working on that problem, "good job Georgie" or a competent, tough, smarter than they are Barack Obama? It's an easy answer for me.

The truth is that Bush and his cronies never cared about Homeland Security or keeping America safe ("Osama Bin Ladden determined to Attack US " memo) . Bush never caught Osama though he tracked down Saddam Hussein a former US ally and friend in a hole in the ground.

What Bush and cronies care about is war profiteering...they have launched new industries who profit enormously from global fear and instability. Blackwater. Halliburton. etc; it is not by chance that so much of the "work" in Iraq is contracted out when prior it was done by the military. It's a new industry based on disaster. The danger of course is that it fuels an Islamic ideology that while not held by a majority of Muslims, has allowed recrutment of many disenfranchised young Muslims across the world. If you have nothing you have nothing to loose.

Obama's politics are more humane and "old-fashioned" in that they reflect an ethical value system. He is a politician but I doubt he wants to continue the destruction so his buddies can cash in.

What the Bush cronies also relished was keeping fear alive in the American populace - better to run on in their elections.

Bush and Cheney are hands down, the best fundraisers, recruiters, publicists and friends that Al-Qaeda ever had.

Obama's election is not a good thing for Al-Qaeda -- or their powers of recruitment and financing.

Most these post are a good example of just how naive the "Messiah" voters are. Everything is going to be wonderful now...just follow the yellow brick road to sunshine and eternal happiness. You truly believe Clarkes " "Most of all, by returning to American values the world admires, Obama sets al Qaeda back enormously in the battle of ideas, the ideological struggle which determines whether al Qaeda will continue to have significant support in the Islamic world." Having thrived on the decline in America's world image, the impact of Obama's victory provides a direct challenge to Al Qaed"......yeh right! Read the Koran and become enlightened on just how evil these muslim terrorist are..they want to kill all the infidels...that's us! Do you really think "The Chosen One" is going to change thier thinking, thier radical ways after hundreds of years of this kind of hate. Get real people, I'm amazed at how so many of you are drunk on Obama wine...!

Most of us did not drink the "Obama wine"...we're simply sick of the "Bush poison"

If you read the Koran, you would understand that it is not about killing infidels. It is a forgiving religion. It is the extremists that are dangerous...whether it is a Christian extremist or Muslim extremist.

No Obama supporter views him as "The Messiah" or "The Chosen One." We view him as a pragmatic, centrist politician who wants to change the way the game is played and appeal to the finer, rather than baser, angels of our natures. Given the godawful messes that have resulted from eight years of corruption, deceit and incompetence, none of us are under any delusions about how hard it's going to be to pull this country out of the ditch that Bush/Cheney/Rove have driven it into.

Sorry, Pinkie_e; dunce-cap time for you. You call the "messiah voters" (whoever they are) naive, while you, my intellectually-challenged friend are guilty of drinking too much of the Right wing-nut kool-aid.
Try reading some newspapers that aren't USA-based. The world press has been paying attention to the repercussions of Barack Obama's election and the results are overwhelmingly favorable to the US of A.
It's obvious that al Qaeda is threatened by Obama. Otherwise, why would they seek to demonize or discredit Obama otherwise. As for your reference to "the Koran" (I take it that you are referring to the Q'Ran), not all of the verses are followed by all Muslims, just like all Christians do not blindly follow passages in the Bible (we don't stone people any more for infidelity, for example). It is a small core of fundamentalists that consider westerners to be 'infidels'.
We do not have to change the minds of those who hate us and want to kill us; we only have to deny them their support from the larger muslim community in order to make them irrelevant...like you.

Interesting that Al Qaeda's video references Malcolm X as a role model of African-American engagement with the Muslim world. Don't know where that's headed, but interesting anyway.

Hey AQ now you can join the rest of the BushCheneyMcCainPalinJacksonFarrahkhan Losers who got run over by the O-train!!!

Open Note to the Middle East:

Look we are all being manipulated by evil jerks who do not care about God, Allah or you, they only care about themselves and power. Just like Bush Manipulated millions of Americans, your leaders are manipulating you into thinking that we are ALL evil and we want to destroy Islam and vice Versa. Thankfully 67 million Americans woke up and realized that we are all just human beings who want to be free and able to live our lives to the fullest, to watch our children grow up and have a brighter future than our own. We will never be able to do that until we ALL cut the strings of these evil puppet masters like You Bush, bin Laden. America is on that path and we hope that you will join us in a journey of International Unity. As Corporations and Conglomerates are the real Great Satan and we can defeat them together.

Save your words for sweet little poems about butterflies and rainbows. They are never, ever going to stop...EVER. They don't listen to Westeners. It goes way back before Bush or Clinton or Bush. Until we set up a strong defense with strong actions they will continue to support evil deeds against Americans throughout the world. The best thing Obama can do is to never negotiate with terrorism.
