I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The recently-convicted, recently-ousted Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska gave his farewell address to the Senate this morning. The 85-year-old was the longest serving Republican senator and has been in politics so long that he actually lobbied for Alaska's statehood. Stevens told the Senate that he doesn't "have any rearview mirror" and hopes soon to escape the "cloud" of his corruption conviction.

Republicans and corruption go together like ice cream and apple pie.

Old Republicans never die, they just get indicted. How soon will Governor Hockey Mom pardon him?

Just in time for Christmas?

A governor can't pardon someone convicted of federal charges. Bush can pardon him though.

And that's just $250,000. He's been in
the Senate an awful long time. Wonder
what else he got away with. Almost
got away with the Bridge to Nowhere.

The applause was in relief that they were rid of him, particularly from republicans.

Why would a seven times convicted felon get a standing O? Sadly, this says way more about the Senate/House (CONGRESS) than it does Stevens.

Hey, look, we Alaskans finally got something right. Can you please stop calling us idiots? I will settle for half-idiot, we do still have barbie, but that will change too.

You are not all idiots. I've seen plenty of evidence -- no worries, just get rid of Palin, PLEASE!!!!

Hell, we Arizonans aren't even qualified to call Alaskans half-idiots. You Alaskans seem like geniuses to us.

Ya know, there is this little thing called a conscience.
Some may call it a rearview mirror.
You look back at your decisions and you think about whether they were correct or not and you learn from it. It is a sort of evolution.
Stevens should try it once in a while. Maybe he could become less corrupt and that cloud could fade a bit. God's forgiveness is otherwise meaningles.

I guess he's looking forward to a pardon on 20th Jan.

Then again, I'm sure there's plenty more where that $250,000 came from.

Have a good whine, Teddy. You should have known that graft and corruption would be found out if practiced long enough. Hope your Palin buddy-in-crime falls soon. Those Alaskan winters couldn't be too cheery in a prison cell.

Well Senator, in the final count it was 7 come 11 and you craped out. I have watched your antics for a number of years and for your country and your state I am glad your justice system still does function and that there still are honest cops. Though I will give you credit for one aspect of your long tenor, you have been damn clever at building bridges to no where for a very long long time and as Alaska's permafrost melts and the methane joins the atmosphere it might even develope into another energy source which can also be exployted.

Thomas Jefferson said no one should be in government over 20 years, in fact it is our charge to vote anyone out of office if they have been there 20 years. The includes Political Parties too !!!!!!

Amen. One or two terms and they are gone. The can't even work for the government when their terms are up let alone a lobbing company.
