Angelina And Brad's Deal With People Mag: Baby Photos For Positive Coverage

LOS ANGELES - When Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt negotiated with People and other celebrity magazines this summer for photos of their newborn twins and an interview, the stars were seeking more than the estimated $14 million they received from the deal. They also wanted a hefty slice of journalistic input -- a promise that the winning magazine's coverage would be positive, not merely in that instance but into the future.

According to the deal offered by Ms. Jolie, the winning magazine was obliged to offer coverage that would not reflect negatively on her or her family, according to two people with knowledge of the bidding who were granted anonymity because the talks were confidential. The deal also asked for an "editorial plan" providing a road map of the layout, these people say.

Why is everyone complaining? She is a genius, she doesnt have a Publicist, so she has People magazine (the most respectable celebrity magazine) in her back pocket.

She is so smart because not only does she not have a publicist, unlike most actors who have and pay hefty for a publicist, Angelina gets WAYYYY better PR, AND she gets PAID for it. How many actors get 14 million from their publicist? Angelinas publicist is the most read celebrity magazine in America, if she ran GM or Ford like she runs her career, GM and Ford would be the leading car makers in the world with profits of 100 billion.

I always knew she had a PR deal with People, and I applaud her for being so smart.

One of the funnier things I heard lately was that her fans at Free Republic think Jolie should "play Palin" in a movie about her. It's just wrong on so many levels. LOL.

All this praise...now only if she could act. Her movie, Singleing, is in the tank. 3 weeks and only 21 million dollars. "People " has become her publicist and are trying to recover some of the 15 mil they paid her for doing nothing. She needs to go back to her base, her niche, "Laura Croff." Real acting requires depth, that which Ms Jolie lacks. So "People", praise her all you want...we learned as children that, Saying it's so...doesn't make it so.

So what is the complaint? She seems to be doing the same job that other celebrities pay their PR flacks to do. She is smart to take it to the same people who have been taking it to her for years and in the process she highlights the issues that she cares about like refugees. Good for her!

She is smart about crafting her image. Who would want to be known solely for some strange and controversial behavior? Certainly the films, fame and fortune would have been far less if she had let things continue on the course she was sailing. As I recall it was not so long ago that this super mom/wife/humanitarian was better known for an inappropriately long kiss on the lips with her brother at an awards show, and for her history of being a self mutalator or "cutter," as well as for wearing a vial of blood as a necklace. The final nail in her public relations coffin could have been her role as a homewrecker. However, it seems she has changed her lifestyle and image. Perhaps this has come with more age and wisdom. I know I did some crazy things in my twenties (not blood necklace wearing stuff, but dumb kid mistakes).

meaning who? She is the least of the talented. Her talents consist of her strange beauty and a very clever media manipulation of the media. I watched one of her films last night. It starred Matt Damon. There were sterling performances from all until the scenes involving Jolie which reeked of her self-awareness.
