NEW YORK — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz are the proud parents of a baby boy, and they're celebrating with some Bronx cheer _ this one is a good one.

Their representative says the pop and rock star couple have named their son Bronx Mowgli. The baby, born Thursday night, weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

Bronx is the first child for Simpson-Wentz, best known for the hit "Pieces of Me," and Wentz, bassist for the platinum rock band Fall Out Boy. They were married earlier this year.

Their representative said in a statement: "Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!"

Had to read that 3 times to really get it...and I totally believe it. Down here in TX, you hear names like Diamond (for a boy), LaMoShanique (and you must spell it with the CAPS in the right place....there are too many others to name!

Such and honor to Mr. Kipling and New York but will it work for the child?

That's an, um, interesting name.
All the same, congratulations on a healthy baby boy. You're in for the challenge of your lives!

I assume that the middle name is a family name from somewhere. Not sure I would want to be in elementary or middle school with that name.

Actually, it's from a character in a Rudyard Kipling story. Judging by these two, though, they more likely got it from the Disney animated version of that story.

At the beginning of the week, HuffPo alerted me that Pete Wentz liked his crotch to look and feel like sandpaper. At the end of the week, HuffPo alerted me that Pete Wentz gave his baby a name befitting the lead character in the Urban Jungle Book. And I started reading this site because of its insightful, hard-hitting commentary!
