Former Commerce Secretary Bill Daley is "likely" to be one of the co-chairs of the Obama inauguration committee, Lynn Sweet reports in the Chicago Sun-Times. Daley was an advisor to Obama throughout the campaign and is a member of his transition team.

Few plans for the January 20th, event have been disclosed, but Sweet expects details to emerge over the next few days:

The Obama crew will need to raise millions of dollars to bankroll the festivities. I hear the goal is to strike a balance in the celebration--not over the top opulent because of the horrible economy--but some decent parties to show the world the U.S. is not in a depression. Watch for major Obama presidential campaign bundlers to swing into action to raise inauguration cash.

How about a 50-state party? That way "we the people" can celebrate, as well! The campaign can rent a big hotel room, tables, chairs & a large screen 'tv', supply some posters. We can do a pot luck, bring music, BYOB, theme the party toward each state... Olympics in Chicago-international food, music &/or Blues - soul food; country-western in Texas - BBQ, C/W music, etc.

I think it would be awesome!
