WESTPORT, Conn. — Paul Newman has left the assets to his wife, the Oscars to his foundation and the race cars to the highest bidder.

A will made public this week shows that Newman, who died in September, left his personal property, including real estate, to Joanne Woodward.

The 10-time Academy Award nominee, who won one Oscar and took home two honorary ones, left those statues and other awards to the Newman's Own Foundation. Interest in Newman's Own and Salad King also went to the foundation, which will distribute all profits to charity.

The will also directed that his airplane and race cars be sold, with proceeds going to his estate.

Signed April 11, Newman's will was filed in Connecticut and was first reported by radaronline.com.

Class act to the very end. A life well lived!

This man is timeless. Thank God he left so much behind to remind us that he is gone from our sight, but he is still here in every way that counts. Blessings to Joanne and his family.

Hard to accept Paul being gone. Great person, great company, just grand.

Paul Newman was a class act! Rest in peace and may Joanne never suffer a day in her life.

Do not idolize Paul Newman. Imitate him. I think he would like that.

Very good thoughts--in addition to being sad over the loss of this great man, I regret that he left us before the historical events of three weeks ago. I'm sure he would have been very happy about our new President!

Looks like Brad Pitt is following his lead; why aren't more megastars doing this? How may gold-plated showerheads do you really need?

Not on his best day is Pitt even in the same universe as Newman.

While Pitt is doing admirable charitable work, he hardly compares to Paul Newman. Mr. Newman not only raised staggering amounts of money through his company "Newman's Own", he did it without cheating on his wife. It would have been nice if Brad had also followed him in that regard.

class act, something we are solely missing today. it's not about how much $$$ you have, but what you do with it.

I actually had the privilege of working with this sterling individual in the 80s
on a dietCoke commercial for the '84 Olympic team.

He was a gentleman and was rather unimpressed with his own stardom
and its effect on others. And, in this world of cause-hungry celebs, this man
really put his money where his mouth was - as no one before or since ever
has or ever will.

Because, aside from the magnitude of his profits-to-charity, he also
ran a huge business which employed thousands of people.

A genius. A gentleman. A man to whom we should all look up.
He leaves an unfillable hole in the heart of humanity.

Seeya, Paul.

Not to wax too morbid or sentimental but we won't see that beautiful man's like again - at least not in the near future. He was a marvelous human being inside and out.

I know, I feel sad when I think he's gone. He had such class, and he was a great actor, but a better human being.

I don't think so, I'm not saying anything bad about Pitt, but Newman didn't crave the limelight. The Jolie/Pitts protest just a little to much about the media attention. They seem to adore being in the spotlight. Paul Newman loathed that kind of thing!

Sad state of our society isn't it. Such a generous and humble man has to have his will "revealed" over the internet.

Disgusting and no one's business.

It happens. It wasn't that personal. There were no messages to his family or anything. I'm glad his company continues and his family will have what they need.

One of the greatest men of our lifetime, certainly mine anyway. Your role in "somebody up there likes me" was appropriately named Paul. Because somebody up there likes you and everything you've done, a whole lot!

I loved Paul Newman's work.

I even believe that the autographed photo I bought on Ebay years ago, hanging 6 feet behind me, of him as Hud (scene w/ Meyvyn Douglas) is authentic. Then again, I don't care if it is!

It's a shame he had to star opposite the most overrated actor since film got sprocket holes in order to get his Oscar. He deserved at least three others.

He was the same age as my own father, so it was easy to look up to him.

SIGN OVER NEWMAN'S MANTLE:

"Everyone brings happiness here --
Some by staying,
some by leaving."

Classic.

RIP Paul. Hope you voted absentee ballot!
